I have a feeling this last name will be significant. Our midfield woes in transfers with Phillips taking the crown jewel would have educated the club about cheaping out on the most important area in a Guardiola system. My gut feeling is this will be the biggest name of the whole window.
I agree but I wouldn’t be surprised if was a box to box midfielder and the DM came in the summer.

I had a wet dream last night, and it started with Tchou, and ended with ameni.

Although dealing with the satanic institution from Madrid has always been, “particular”, I still hope something can be done there.

We are that sensitive in the midfield, that our realistic buying options, without investing into overinflated donkeys again, are only, the top 3 clubs on the planet, and despite this sounding about as arrogant as Simon Jordan, we can only buy from the like of Real Madrid in order to guarantee the quote on quote quality and versatility required. My desire for the French Poundland Casemiro stands purely from a childish desire.

The reality is, we’re *ucked either way, and it will cost us huge money to properly cure that elusive DM position.

Well I agree with most of that but what about Baleba at Brighton?

I'll repeat what I said last week or whenever. Every journalist in the Manchester scene KNOWS that City are working on a midfielder. None of them, off the record, seem to know who it is.

Transfers aren't a secret, there's too many people involved. One of the journalists will get a whisper from someone and they'll generally gossip with others to see if they've heard or can confirm. So even before it goes to print, you know what's coming. This is how @tolmie's hairdoo has been ITK for so long, his sources and the gossip in the trade that hasn't hit the back pages yet. (It's nice to be finally able to acknowledge that Scott knew what he was talking about all along btw as many of us have stressed over the years)

But nobody has a clue who it is. And that's a weird situation. Nobody is talking. People will give info on the 115 case off the record with the "anonymous source/protect relationships" stuff and that's the most important thing that has happened in the modern history of this football club. But nobody is saying anything about the midfielder.

Here's my guess, and I stress that this is a total guess. I think the midfielder is coming from Viana exclusively. I think it might be someone who he has already done a lot of groundwork with or has a pre-existing relationship so there's little need for all the usual hoop jumping that would happen if this went through the City ranks. We already know that Reis is a Viana signing and although Khusanov was "on the list" in November, if you look at the profile of the player then he's more the type of risky player that goes to a Sporting than signs for City. Khusanov should sign for City as the club after his next one. Marmoush is a typical Txiki signing imo.

That's the only way this makes sense to me. The only other option I can think of, and this seems highly unrealistic, is that it's a controversial signing like a Zubimendi who Arsenal think they've got wrapped up. But I think it's the Viana thing, unless somebody else has got any ideas?

Ah, the good old, Brighton mirage that everybody is still falling trap to. The reality is, we’ve gone past Brighton’s low cost, Ryanair signings, and the fact that we have failed to properly adapt to that, and recognise it, is in part why we’ve reached the “premature ejaculation” stage this season.

If we were to repeat the rebuild of 2017 nowadays, we would probably breach £400 million without trying. Hence the market value deception which a lot of fans still haven’t properly adapted to.

The reality is, that if we are indeed rebuilding then some of the puzzles pieces will cost eye watering sums, and the fact that we have spunked 100 milion on two mediocre players in the past, Matheus and Kalvin, should stand clear about how much money we actually need to invest for it to work. And quickly.

Bellingham and Rice cannot be repeated. Neither can Gundogan and Kovacic. Both avenues should be irrevocably closed. So yes, I’m talking £100 million plus player required.

No point doing it, if not.

Fully agreed, and if we were to deal with any of the big boys clubs in Europe it would leak like a sieve. Hence why, either it’s a masterclass, or it’s been in the works for a very long time, and it’s heavily conditioned by other factors.

No point getting players if we don't spend 100mill plus on them, yes right. One of the daftest yet.
