PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The guardian absolutely despise our owners. And the UAE in general. They view them as the “wrong sort of Muslims” because unlike most of the Middle East, the UAE appear, on the surface at least, to have decent diplomatic relations with Israel, which in the eyes of the guardian is unforgivable and therefore they are not to be trusted.
Absolutely correct. The wrong type of racism must be violently stamped out by Antifa. The right type of racism is required to keep the wars going. Don’t worry, we don’t have to think about it. Just off to iron my Ukrainian and Palestinian flags.

An excellent paper wouldn’t be constantly producing articles which blatantly belittle our club and be part of a media attempt to ruin us.

An excellent paper wouldn’t “hate” on one particular club, ironically a Manchester one.

It’s a free world but nothing in the non sports part would make me go near such a paper. It deserves nothing but our contempt.
What did I say about the sport section or didn't you read that part of my post

I’ve thought about this further and it gets worse.

The club has made its position clear. They expressly deny any wrongdoing, which plainly means an absence of any fraudulent activity whatsoever. That is City’s unequivocal stated position.

So an organisation that turns over 700 million quid, that has been accused of fraud by its regulatory body, unequivocally states that the allegations are entirely false. And they have ‘irrefutable’ proof of this. Strident words.

And yet there has been zero input from the press about the implications if this is correct, which is plainly seismic. If the club’s assertion is correct then they have been accused of something of which they have not done. That’s a huge deal by any objective measure.

Think of the Wagatha Christie trial. Imagine one of the statements of case, say Vardy, being forensically examined by the press and the implications for all parties if the court found favour with her case being set out in great detail. And then the only scenario being presented for Rooney was one where her defence didn’t get over the line because there wasn’t enough proof, without any reference to what it would mean if her stated case was upheld by the court.

That’s actually what we are dealing with here. The club’s defence is that the charges are bollocks and yet there has been next to zero analysis in the media of what it would mean for the PL if City are vindicated.

The levels of mental gymnastics and Nelsonian blindness involved here are off the fucking scale.
There has been no forensic analysis in the media, even in the so-called 'quality' media, of the charges themselves. That's all come from people like Stefan, me and others. Yet all the information, as far as we have it, is out there. They don't even understand that there are really only 3 substantive charges. It's all been about '115'.

As you say, the media have almost exclusively concentrated on the 'what will happen to City if they're found guilty' line. Individuals who wouldn't know the difference between a debit and a credit, a balance sheet and a profit-and-loss account, come out with ridiculous and even potentially legally actionable statements on a subject they have no knowledge on.

Even when we won at CAS, the reaction of some journalists was "It's the end of FFP". The narrative from many around the APT case was that our partial victory would sweep away any spending constraints. It's laughable and shows just how far the media has sunk.

Was thinking about this earlier. Non-cooperation is the obvious area where there would be a fine as there's no sporting advantage.

One of the other major things I believe the charges cover is the issue of whether the Abu Dhabi sponsors are related parties. While I doubt that will be something the IC will find in the PL's favour, let's assume it was.

If we were found guilty of presenting accounts that were deemed to be misleading or inaccurate purely on that basis, then (assuming the sponsorships were deemed ok otherwise) there would also be no sporting advantage. So a fine would be the appropriate sanction.

If the IC found us in breach around the Mancini contract, then I'd expect a fine, rather than a points deduction, as the amount involved is minimal.

But let's stress again that Stefan has made it clear that sanctions will only be considered once the outcome of the hearing is known. So the high likelihood is that no one has a clue.
And the grass was too long, don't forget the grass

Very nice to speak to you earlier, my friend x

The Guardian is the most pathetic paper, they are so far up their own arses, OK, they promote Labour, who got 20% of the eligible vote and won a landslide, which just goes to show how crap previous governments were, and how pathetic the current voting system is. The Guardian hate everything to to with the middle east, but curiously they don’t seem to have a problem with the USA, who are the second biggest oil consumers and producers in the World, yet they hate City because we are accused of being funded by oil. Bastards!

If you go back to the 19th Century and look at the British Empire, you will find that the British assumed everybody else was inferior. Now, if they had a skin colour that was not white, they were uncivilised savages, fuzzy wuzzies and wogs. One common idea then was that Arabs were untrustworthy liars and cheats who reneged on any agreement.
The football press are unreformed, half educated xenophobes to be kind to them. Not one outlet has ever come up with evidence for their nonsensical assertions. Ziegler, for example, fell for that utube scam about a mystery man and £100m. The vid was almost certainly produced by Qatar. Ziegler didn’t even spot that no author or publisher was identified by the video’s data. Why? Because he wanted to believe the old meme of untrustworthy Arabs.
I was very reluctant for a long time to accept this explanation but eventually I was drawn to this shocking conclusion.
With the honourable exception of Martin Samuel, the football press should hang their heads in shame.
PS EDIT. I suppose some of the gentlemen of the press might offer the excuse that they were only doing their bosses bidding and pandering to the readers’ worst instincts to get clicks.
God help us, that is even worse.

They show their ignorance/racism every time they produce an article that confuses Qatar, Saudi and the UAE or portray them as one state.

I just think the whole argument is so stupid. Why shouldn’t a country maximize and get paid of the natural resources in their country. I’m sorry but is selling oil illegal????? If not, Then what the fuck is the issue. I live in the USA and our government meddles in everyone’s affairs.

And that approach conspicuously ignores the fact, that for better or worse, the modern world which (inter alia) supports the medium within which we are communicating, is founded upon oil.

It makes the world we live and thrive in, go round.

Without it, as things stand, civilisation would collapse.

If a relegation caused by a club breaking the rules leads to financial losses for a player, it provides grounds for the player to seek contract termination through FIFA. Therefore, if you refuse to let players leave, there is a significant risk you will lose them for free. That's a can of worms no club wants to open.
We ain't getting relegated so sfu ffs!!!

Yes, I think bringing the media to task is right with Colin and Gord included in my congrats..
The best I can say about them is they must be desperate for clicks so appeal to the worst in the football sector of business that is owned by US based cartel that that fears for its dividends.

Nelsonian blindness.....nice comment. Have not heard that comparison before.
