Putting aside the fact that he’s a fat, granny shagging **** for a second, the fact that the BBC are even considering employing someone who is so poor at expressing himself verbally, to the extent that his speech is hallmarked with a constant struggle to form a coherent sentence, says everything about the hold the rags have over that organisation and the media more widely.
I actually don’t dislike him as a person and think he’s generally a benign individual, but that doesn’t qualify him to talk on national television about football, or any other subject for that matter. His output on the show will inevitably be a series of anodyne platitudes that actually mean very little and provide no insight whatsoever. This alone makes him wholly unsuitable for the position.
If they employed him to host a healthy living show they would be widely mocked in the press and yet this will be seen in wholly different terms, despite him being equally ill-suited to either position.
There are players in the PL who speak barely any English who would do a better job as a pundit on MOTD than this fat, granny shagging ****.
