His stance on Cucurella worked for him as well, we wouldn’t pay what he wanted but Chelsea did. I don’t think he dislikes anyone who will pay what he demands.
 
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to question City’s recruitment with respect to a DM. It has been for 3 good seasons that we need someone to help Rodri out. I have seen Pep play Rodri in the third round of a FA cup against a Championship opponent. A billion dollar worth of squad should beat a championship between without Rodri.

Either the signings are total fail( Kalvin) or not intelligent enough( Nunes). And these players are costed enough. It’s not that we identified some 20 million worth of couple of players so that even it fails it doesn’t hurt us in the long run.

All these years of scouting should have resulted in a list of 3-4 players that are attainable and can be quickly signed in the January window - even with a premium.

We failed to land Koulibaly - we got Dias
We failed to land Fred - we got Rodri

Since I am typing this on 23rd January after a chastening defeat in the CL - I would prefer our 3rd or 4th choice midfielder already in the squad before we play Chelsea.

It's not just a DM though is it?

It's not an overreaction to say our midfield is dead apart from Rodri. Phil is a goal threat but he's just not that playmaker that we need. I can't remember him being able to consistently find Erling with his passes the way KDB does.

So other than Rodri we have NO MIDFIELD.

We need 5 in!

Or do you plan to keep KDB, Gundogan, Kovacic, Bernardo, Stones, Akanji, and the occasional fillers Grealish and Rico here long term??

But to say we are fine for this season and we don't need ANY midfielders besides a Rodri backup is just denial at this point.

We no longer have the ability to kill the game by controlling the ball once we've conceded, that isn't helped by the age of Kovacic & Gundogan because teams other than Ipswich & Arsenal aren't putting 10 men behind the ball. They are now defending 30 yards further upfield like PSG last night &Akanji, Lewis & Walker when he played no longer look so assured on the ball.

We made a huge mistake. I realise the Blue Moon forum does not make decisions for MCFC. However, there were a great number of people here crying out for the club to get a backup/partner for Rodri. And conversely, as many or more, sycophants shouting them down with "Pep knows what he is doing," "Don't you trust the club," and etc.

Now the chickens have come home to roost. And there are still some here with the attitude that a lot of members don't know their arse from a hole in the ground when it comes to football. I barely know the difference but "I know enough to be dangerous." There are a good many City fans here who know a lot more than me. I agree with them that the club could find someone to help our midfield. Money talks and bullshit walks, as they say.

he has to be registered by 12 pm tomo, so very doubtful. Deadline day allow deal sheet submissions, normal transfers do not (as far as im aware)

Who, and why now we are trying are we still having difficulty getting the right player. In the summer many said Guimaraes, he isn’t leaving ,last summer or this month, Zubimendi, again not last summer or this month, Ederson, seems Atalanta have no intention of selling this month. Easy to throw names about bit harder to get them and these players are worth more to their clubs this month than not. Not as if they can’t sell them for the same money in summer.
I don’t know who we are targeting, but I’d rather wait until the club can get the right one than go off bluemoon names
We are trying if we don’t get anyone it’s most likely because to right one just isn’t available.
 
We need to get a DM in, even if it's a stop gap. If we don't, we might not make the CL and therefore might not get our preferred target in the Summer.
