The Female Blue Moon Opera Singer, The Laser And Light Show, The Smoke, Before The Start Of The Match, Your thoughts….

In what way?
I’ve already explained it.

On a side note. As I was making my way through security and my season ticket was being checked on my mobile phone at the entrance to 115 (each time I enter the block, even after going to the toilet or to the bar), all I could see was smoke in the air. I thought somebody had let off a smoke bomb. Poor **** I thought, 3 year ban, etc, incoming. I got into 115, looked over to the East stand, and there were numerous smoke machines pumping out (fake) smoke. What’s that for? To aid the atmosphere pre-match?

I think it adds to the atmosphere and that this is the direction of travel. I don't love it, but it does make a match feel big imo and is in line with how most of the rest of Europe do these sorts of things.

Likewise I thought the opera singer was a bit tacky, but there was something nice about marking the occasion for those three men in particular.

Miserable fuckers. If you don't like it, stay on the concourse.

I will next time. :-)

I got to my seat early for the tribute, not to see smoke, lasers, and an opera singer razzamatazz show before the tribute. That sort of Jarrs.

It's brilliant theater and entertainment, maybe the old guard will hate it which I understand but respect to the club in trying to create atmosphere and make the occasion special.

The tributes to Law, Book and Kennedy were magnificent and very unique.

Our club are taking attending a football match to new levels and for me do it incredibly well.

Also great to see the crowd wake up and get behind the team and Khusanov after a horrible start, that's how a home crowd should be and see the reaction of the players to that support.
I’m old guard. I’m 60 and loved it all. Angry from Manchester should stick to complaining about all the repeats on TV!!

Another one for the old guard! :).

I was much more concerned about us slipping into old habits of doing the opponents managers team talk with the silly video montage. The joy is Manchester City’s. The despair is Chelsea’s. Why the fuck do we do that. We looked pretty silly 3 minutes in.
I hate that bit. There’s a certain arrogance about it. We inevitably go behind within 5 minutes.

I don't know why stuff like this offends some people. Football has changed, it isn't the 80's anymore. You're more likely to see a laser show than you are to get twatted by some knuckle dragger, is that a bad thing? The game and 'matchday experience' has moved on, it is what is. Personally I don't really have opinion of the whole light show/ opera songers at all. Does it enhance my enjoyment? - Not especially, but then does it annoy me? no not in the slightest.

Yeah I wasn’t there unfortunately watching at home as I mentioned didn’t see all the smoke lasers so forth but the kids love all that stuff and it seems to have drifted into our game from the USA..
That's right. I am in the family stand with my grandson. Most of the kids loved it. Too many FOCs don't think about others. Wouldn't like it every game myself but nothing wrong with it now and again.

Exactly! Some just don’t move with the times, atmospheres in general are different now and IT IS about a match day experience and not just the game itself?

I think we all understand that.

The foc’s are dieing out and slowly being replaced by the younger generation of City fans if their parents can afford match tickets? I also think it’s aimed at the tourist and day tripper support as well.

Just out of interest, did your grandson say anything about the opera singer singing blue moon?

I’m glad your grandson enjoyed the laser show. I’m not that much of a foc miserable b@stard. :-)

If you think having smoked pumped around the stadium, a laser and light show, and an opera singer singing blue moon is moving with the times at football matches, fair enough. You would have enjoyed that razzamatazz display before the tribute.

I’m not talking about the tribute. Read the headline of the thread.

There was no need for the smoke, lasers, lights, and the blue moon opera singer

The rest of the tribute which was seperate was SUPERB, RESPECTFUL and TASTEFUL.

It was great, what happened? ;) My poor lungs
