Might be worth having a chat with a physio?

Yeah, unfortunately I have a bit of history with my right knee. ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair in 2014, further meniscus repair last year, and its riddled (surgeons words) with arthritis apparently.

Noticed in the last few months persistent stiffness in the joint, not sure if this is arthritis related or not to be honest, but not convinced my meniscus repair last year was actually that successful. Perhaps a GP appointment and further scan might be required.

Did a fairly quick 9 mile yesterday, 1:15ish, as I'm doing Morecambe Festival 10mile on Sunday and wanted a rough idea of pace, about 5mins faster than I thought I was at, think I'm going for goal A: 1:15, B: 1:20, C: 1:25.

Still getting some residual soreness in my thigh from what I assumed was a minor quad tear in late November/early December, so might be a trip to the physio next week.

Marathon training off to a slow start, managed 12km yesterday.

Concerned however with a sharp pain just below my right kneecap every time I take a step.... limited confidence I can complete said marathon (Manchester, April) to be honest!
Sounds like it could be Patellar Tendinitis, unfortunately it's something that seems to get worse the more you run on it. Only solution I found was rest and strengthening exercises.

A random ,step back in time ,1989,Derbyshire, England.
Healthily people looking to keep their fitness levels up.
Different Times...

I was a good runner back in the day , only ran to get fit for football,
I knew I didn't have the talent to be a good football player
So I made sure I had the stamina and energy to play for 90 mins
For me..run in was basically boring,it was all about Football lol.
Never ran a marathon, might have done a half.....but I did run daily for years and years early morning.in twine with the Dawn Chorus....

Great vid, interesting they all stopping watches!! But harsh on the wheelchair lads having them finish on a muddy field

Did the 10mile event at Morecambe today, came home in 1:15:50ish.

Had planned to set out at 5min/km pace but I think every km was faster so well chuffed with that.
10 miler equals an hour and a half of running for me, so impressed by that sort of time mate. Well done - bet you feel great now don’t you? :-)
Such a good, satisfying feeing after a long run (or bike ride) - it’s mostly what keeping me doing it tbh.
Enjoy having a few calories today anyway!

Yeah its a great feeling once it's over, although I am a bit sore!
First event in 14 months after an injury plagued 2024, so I'm made up with it to be honest.
My PB too, although I haven't run a 10miler before, my strava was annoying me as my 10mile PR of 1:19 was from a marathon I did. So I'm glad to get that beaten.

For my fellow runners, Garmin know about the current triangle issue and are working on it.

Might be back to the good old days of strava recording on my phone tonight!

The good old days were an ordnance survey map and a piece of string. I recently graduated from that to strava on my phone. Very proud of myself.

The old old days for me were just a stopwatch and run a distance I know measured by the car.

But good old days is strava on phone for me, stuck with that way too long but getting my Garmin 3 years ago was a gamechanger.

Thanks. I'll ponder the upgrade to garmin.

Where's this blue triangle everyone's on about?
I believe your watch should be fine unless you activate the GPS by clicking the start/stop button, so as you're about to do an activity, that's when everyone's been getting it.

What's all this then?
Lazy?
Run after work?
What happened to the standard half marathon at 3.00 am everyday?
Say it ain't so, Joe.
In my defence I did run before work and at dinner time, ok so it was a poxy 4 miles each run but it still counts right?
Struggling with the mojo this year tbh honest mate, have changed jobs from working 10/12 hours a day 7 days a week to a more "relaxed" pace job and it's fucked me, putting up with unskilled middle management and box tickers day in day out bores the shit out of me, I is losing me bite in this game, needs to find a way to fuel the fire again as I just can't be arsed

Maybe you've had your fill of marathons and road running. How about trails, fell running or hill walking? Munro bagging?
Instead of pace and time being the objective using running to get fit to explore the great outdoors?

Or another sport? Cycling, mountain biking, kayaking or even tennis? Emma Raducanu for example came from a poor background. She was a runner and wanted to take up kayaking but could not afford the equipment. So, Emma never Raducanu.
