Andrea Cambiaso

I also remember Fernandinho getting done by Vinicius in a similar way to Barcola and Nunes.

Fernandinho wasn’t a bad player was he?!

Nunes has done ok other than those lapses - but you’re going to get lapses when you play a midfielder at full back.
Fernandinho was 35 & was coming to the end of his career. There's a difference.

Cambiaso deal in jeapordy, city prioritising Midfield and Juve not budging on price for now, wanted for Cambiaso.
It was a clever move by city getting the young CBs in before going after anyone else. Gives us bit of leverage to walk.

He's a good footballer and a useful player to keep around the squad, which we will probably do. Nobody is comparing him to peak Walker or suggesting he should be first choice right back.
Keep him around the squad for what? He's not at the required level in any position we've played him. If Pep prefers a small squad, we need players who can challenge for a starting spot in their specialist position, not just someone who's good to keep around the squad.

That being the case, we may as well have kept Kalvin, who was apparently popular in the dressing room. We can't afford to carry passengers with such a small squad.

I like the guy, until Savio came on he was the only one yesterday that looked to inject some pace into the game. Just being realistic that Vini will rip him a new one.
He won't be playing in those games. It will be Akanji RB .

The Fernandinho that was 36/37 years of age when he was facing Vini Jr...I'm sure it would have been a different ball game if Ferny had faced Vini Jr in his pomp at 26/27 years of age, Plus Vini Jr was arguably the best winger in the world at that stage...

Nunes is 26 and he's athletic, He doesn't have much going on between the ears, I did state that his "lapses" actually happened in midfield areas somewhere he's used to playing such as Barcola on the half way line and last night was at least 20 yards outside the box...

He gets done an awful lot, Most times he does get done thankfully we haven't been punished, The obvious lapses are always going to be the ones that result in goals and the rest are forgotten.

He's far better, more versatile than Phillips. Not bothered either way, but I'm expecting to see him in the squad next year and being used occasionally.

I'd prefer if we cut our losses & bought the starting central midfielder we needed & expected. I'd feel better with an EDS product being the player in the first team squad used occasionally. We bought Nunes to play, not warm the bench.

Walker was outstanding I agree. Defending isn’t as easy as some probably think - I bet you could find examples where even Baresi, Maldini, Vinnie, etc had been made to look like an arse, but how many times did they snuff out attacks. It’s just that one bit of skill or pace by a forward is what gets highlighted and remembered, but top defenders stop them more often than not, otherwise games would all be about 8-6. Walker was immense for us.

Nunes, he’s not a defender, his body position is often not right to face a quick forward because he’s more used to going forward himself.
100% agree.

I'm sure we could find numerous clips of some of the worlds best getting done on many occasions over the years, They are also some of the world's best for a reason as they wouldn't have got done that often and they are defensively sound.

The obvious mistakes that Nunes has made are always going to be the ones that result in goals in which gets highlighted, He gets done on so many other occasions but because they haven't resulted in goals in more or less forgotten about. That one last night he was face on with his opponent he didn't even have his body on the half turn, Do that in a under 10s game and your being substituted

I don't like bashing any player, He's playing out of position I get that but even going forward he looks like he doesn't know what's going on half of time.
