I think people are generally rather sanguine after the last two results, but if Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, and Chelsea all win over the weekend and we lose at Arsenal, for want of a defensive midfielder, we'll be down to 6th and the blood will be boiling on here again.

what if we lose for another reason?

The standards at midtable clubs are much lower than ours, so their best players look like they're outperforming.

You best know something with a conclusive statement like that - although, Fernando 2.0 doesn't fill me with much confidence as he doesn't appear to eat up much ground and turns like a milktruck

Im not adverse to this as some, assuming we let Gundo go in summer and have Luiz for that spot.

Had this conversation with my son the other day after the game, as he doesn’t rate Luiz as being much of an upgrade. My point is it’s entirely feasible that we could end up unloading Gundo, Kev, Bernie and Kova in the summer and consequently Luiz would be a useful squad member regardless.

When Pep answers that he doesn’t know if there is a chance City will sign more players in the next three days that means “yes there is”. If we were done he would have said “no” or “I don’t think so”

It doesn’t mean we will sign more but it means we are still trying and there is time yet.

It also looked like he refused to answer which players would be added to the CL squad which might also be good sign.
