So is it likely? Release clause but we’re not willing to go that high (reminds me of Bruno G in the Summer) but will they be willing to negotiate?

I’d assume not in the middle of the season, so close to the deadline and the fact Barcelona have a sell-on clause. Unless the player forces their hand…

Luckily, we’ve not got long to wait to find out.

This could put a spanner in the works. Not sure Porto will want to sell two players before the window also assume Porto won’t be desperate for cash either

(Benfica fan if you don’t remember me it’s been a while haha)
Porto is for me what united is for you but I’ll try to be objective

He is probably Porto’s best player together with Diogo Costa. Decent player for sure, however I am not 100% sure he is good enough to solve your midfield problems at least not short term, he is still young so obviously has some potential.

Your board slept a bit in the summer, they thought the rebuild wasn’t necessary yet but turns out it was.

Missed out big time on Joao Neves, we sold him for 60M to PSG which was a terrible sale, he is exceptional. I thought at the time that city should have gone for him and I believe your season would be very different if you had. But now it’s easy to say obviously.
Eusebio, what a player, and what a gentleman

Our midfield under Pep has never been built on pace, Fernadinho, Rodri, KDB, Silva, Gundogan. While quicker and more energetic than our midfield is currently pace has never been the top requirement, intelligence , positioning, passing, movement, control, pressing have always been the main requirements.
I can agree on that but right now the midfield is just so slow you could walk right through it. Gundogan and Kovacic aren't a great combination and a lot of players have lost too much pace because of their age which makes it even more noticeable.

Kova is not really slow - at 32.5 km/hr is quickest in our midfield by a distance (except for Nunes)- he just seems to fall over the ball at inappropriate times a lot.

Something doesn't add up. Why did Barca sell him for just €8m if he is a real talent? Must have been a bit underwhelming at Barca and then Valencia? Maybe he's made big progress at Porto? If we really want him must be so. But his RC is the same as that of Zubimendi who is much closer to Rodri quality wise.
We sold Sancho for £8m

If they are skint, as suggested by a Portuguese poster, they may have no choice but to sell somebody.....Gonzales has a buyout, so doesn't matter what they want....i have no idea, but maybe Galeno did too?

The release clause negates that. It’s up to the player if we bid the required amount.

Signing top players isn’t easy, and buying any of them in January was never going to happen.

González might be a decent player, and we might only end up paying a modest fee for him, but our recent record of signing midfielders who aren’t top level isn’t pretty. The hundred million we spent on Phillips and Nunes has been disastrous in terms of squad planning.
People keep on mentioning these so called top class players but there are only a handful that don’t play for other elite teams. If we were able to go to Madrid and buy Camavinga for less than €100m I’d be seriously concerned about how good he actually is. We have to buy players in between the range of could be decent and world class otherwise we’d be spending too much money.

Thought Sporting were your derby

Understand Porto though

Is that prick still manager of them

Edit just checked and he’s not
Yeah, it’s complicated because we are Porto’s and Sporting’s biggest rival, so our fanbase is a bit divided in which of them is ours

Sporting is from the same city and is our traditional rival but only won 4 leagues in the last 42

Porto has won much more than Sporting and also they are dirty, we hate what they represent. That manager you are talking about already left yes, but he perfectly represented what that clube has been ever since I watch football

So all in all, i hate sporting as a rival, porto i wish they didn’t exist

They wanted 20m. That's why Barca got a 40% sell on

We don't need players like Kamavina. Even for 50 million I wouldn't want him or Tchomeni. Because they are simply different profiles that we represent and are looking for.

Just a bit of fun

Looking at the YT’s it’s got to be the toughest position to look good on there CDM, as it’s about doing the simple things well all of the time.

So I don’t think we can read too much.

Not a player I know too much about, but Viana must do.

Buying end of the window via a release clause seems a bit of not getting our main target.

In the same Mahmoush feels like our first choice for that position, this one does not.

I’m still not fully convinced Dias was first choice when we got him and things worked out ok.

If I remember back then I'm fairly sure whilst Dias was on our list, we went all in for Koulibaly. To the extent we had a welcome Koulibaly PR segment all setup & then quickly taken down!

The holding midfield role is the guts of a working body, ugly and grey , Only Rodri has stood out enough to win the Ballon d'or and he was in a fantastic team that won 5 trophies in a calendar year

Nobody can be the new anybody, But as for Rodri well he's Superman
