It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

They don’t need to. When have they ever paid 100 mill for a player? They get other German players to run their contracts down and move on a Bosman and that’s how they can offer a decent wage.

Bayer have said many times that don’t want to sell to Bayern.
They won't have to . His contract is up in 2 years and he will move for free . Or else a smaller fee in a years time.

We go out and play every game with 8 players . And people think signing a midfielder or 2 won't make a difference. Have them been watching any games . Can't run , can't press , can't keep possession, can't win possession .

I'd say it's unfathomable that we're into February and are still playing the non-midfield of Kova and Bernardo, but it's par the course with Txiki these days.
Not being funny I called him out yonks ago, incompetent. Look at the mess Barcelona were left in after he moved on. Release clause king.

Txiki can only do so much. He signs the player and then it's down to Pep and the player to shoulder the blame if they aren't a success.

Txiki isn't the one playing or setting tactics. Pep is leaving Nunes out to dry at RB. That's not Txikis fault but it's those performances that people are blaming him for.
What you are saying may be correct in some cases if an elite player fails to be a success here. When the player is simply not good enough, significantly worse than the player they replaced and never should have been signed in the first place, of course he has some blame.
Nunes was average at Wolves and would of course not be better at an even higher level. Doku had 6 goals in the French League and was obviously not going to replace Mahrez goals. Kovacic was a bench player in mid table Chelsea and was obviously not going to improve a treble winning side. Barcelona would never have let Gundo leave on a free if he still was elite.
It's not even that these signings have failed based on what could have been expected of them, most of them have delivered somewhat as expected based on what they did before joining us. But if we let multiple elite players leave and replace them with players that are objectively significantly worse, of course the team is going to get worse. Regardless what Pep does. The problem is that we signed objectively worse players and expected them to deliver the same as the elite serial winners they were replacing.

I mean, Barca won 17 trophies after Txiki left. They have been in a mess but blaming Txiki (when it's not his fault), while ignoring the success they have had is a bit myopic

Big 26 hours ahead.

Marmoush looks fantastic but if we don’t sign anyone else before the deadline then this will have been a poor window.

The other two new lads are too raw to have much, if any, influence on our battle for CL qualification.

Full back remains an issue and the midfield is non-existent.
Yep two young centre halves are for the future and not for this season, that just leaves Marmoush really as a now signing. We needed more and I can't see anything happening in the last 24 hours

Unless something big changes by midnight tomorrow, we’ll have 0 defensive midfielders and 0 right backs. Honestly that’s inexcusable.

Are the players we have in this window really future elite players ?

Do any of them improve this season ?

It’s mental we didn’t go all in for Bruno. Chuck £125m at Newcastle 3 weeks ago & we would of improved much more

Txiki isn't sat in the room with Pep and pulling the wool over his eyes by convincing him that Nunes is the second coming of Rodri. They all have to be a level of responsibility.

Doku was a signing for the future and he's shown a lot of flashes that he can give us a lot I think, expecting him to replace Mahrez is ridiculous and that is a fan expectation not from the club.

Kovacic is what he is, pretty reliable and dependable squad midfielder. He starts for every club outside the top 4. Again, fan expectation seems to be that he should be as good as Rodri.

Did Barca have a choice with Gundogan?

Pep needs to shoulder blame, sometimes his own genius and arrogance is to the detriment of the team.

They must still be fashioning up a nice polite letter to go along with a bid for any DM.

‘Dear Sir/ Madam, I hope this bid finds you well’

To leave it this late for a position we’ve been crying out for and that has been costing us since Rodri went down just further highlights the failings of those responsible for transfers of the last few windows.

Yeah Leverkusen have said they won’t let Wirtz or Bayern do that. They want their money and rightly so.Plus 2.5 years is a long time in footy.

No point pushing for Bruno now as he had his chance to push for a move last summer and we won’t go paying around £80m on a 28 soon to be 29 year old player.

Although he didn’t have a good game today Marmoush has been brought in to add the numbers the wingers and midfielders haven’t been getting in terms of goals & assist.

You have a point. Building for the future while the present is crying out for help.
