So the metal tripod legs will be lifted over the supported circular steel viewing platform frame, lowered, connected, and fixed into place?

They doing one leg at a time. Lifting them up with the crane and then attaching them to the stand and viewing platform.

Quadpod, but yea that. One by one though, i.e pier by pier.

Think of it this way. They couldn't assemble it whole and lift up, as it would be too big to lift. To lift each pier individually is ok, but no one pier can stand on its own at an angle without being restrained in some way top and bottom. Whichever one you start with.

Which is why the viewing platform is a clever thing. Build that on a temporary prop, and then you have a fixed central ring that each pier can be connected to the bottom while restrained at the top, keeping two points of contact at all times. Saves a lot of propping in the meantime. And when done, it is also a useful permanent feature, for the walk.

I would go as far as wondering what came first. The structural solution, that doubles up as a viewing platform, or a viewing platform with a usable structural solution.
 
I must have been thinking about my cat Yogi. He’s only got 3 legs. His left front leg is missing. :-( But he still gets about. :-)
