Sam Kerr

That's exactly what happens and it's usually on recommendation of the attorneys. I'm surprised you don't know this is how it works.
I do know how it works, which is why I specifically said that was what he was doing. And, in this case, EVERYONE is focusing on that charge.

As I said, do her for D&D, make her pay for the damages, and maybe even the lost income from having to have his window fixed, but to throw in an aggravated racism charge is bollocks.

Then, in what way is she entitled, if not because she earns a good crust? Surely not her upbringing?!
She did say she was going to have the Chelsea legal staff deal with it. To me, that is something of an entitled attitude.

By showing the police in the station, if the article is accurate, her bank balance, she is showing them she has money. Instead of paying for legal representation out of pocket, she said intended to call in the club's legal staff. It comes across as a "Don't you know who i am?"

Have them all the time, and not just before or after. I have a way of dealing with them that doesn’t involve dragging them through the gutter press and labeling them racists.

Oh, and it is, of course, a seriously different thing…and if I did take people somewhere they didn’t specifically request to go, I WOULD be done for kidnapping!
I imagine you do and I'm guessing the airport police deal with them. Perhaps if the doors have been closed the FBI. I'm not 100% correct as to who takes over when. In the air, if news accounts are to be believed, they are subdued by flight attendants, sometimes with the help of passengers, and zip tied or duct taped to keep them still, yes?

The newspaper article says the police communications representative instructed the driver to drive them to the police station. They were aware of the situation. Maybe we differ on kidnapping but it seems to me he was doing as instructed by the authorities.

I'm guessing the Crown prosecutors feels like it is worthwhile and they have a good shot to win the conviction.

The police could well charge her and the Crown decline to prosecute if they did not think it was winnable. The fact that it is a high profile personality would indicate this to me. If the government didn't think they had a winnable case it wouldn't be worth the headache.

If it were you, me, or Joe Bagofrags, the story would not likely make the news. As it is Sam Kerr, I'd think they would wish to tread lightly and not overcharge else they come out looking foolish in the end.

And to make it clear, I'm not trying to have a go at you. I have no reason to do so and I dont wish you to misunderstand.

It’s a racially aggravated offence, rather than aggravated racism.

“An offence is racially aggravated if, at the time of the offence, you demonstrate toward the victim hostility based on his membership of a racial group or the offence is motivated by that hostility.

So, shouting racist abuse or making racist comments will make an offence racially aggravated.”

Her attorneys! Her right to assert.

She was asserting that she was not someone to be trifled with, and someone of means that would not be trampled, which she felt she was.

Was she drunk, ham-fisted, mouthy?
Absolutely, and she should be ashamed of her behavior.

That’s not illegal or 85% of the population would be in jail!

“Keep the rifle straight and boots high as you goose step to the camp!”

How about taking them where they wanted to go and asking the police to meet him there?

I really don’t care what happens, but Britain is on a very slippery slope in my view. “Freedoms,” such that they think they still have any, are dropping by the wayside with every acceptance of their losses.

I’ve said what I think should happen.

Everyone is performative these days, even the CPS, which is scary.

No problem. You know I have the utmost respect for you.

She fucked up and will (and should) pay a price. I just don’t think it should be to be labeled as, and prosecuted for being, a racist.

That label doesn’t go away, and should be reserved for those who demonstrate they deserve it.

No. It doesn't go away.

What's the old story? She built that dock but they don't call her Sam the dock builder. She built that fence but they don't call her Sam the carpenter. She called the constable "white and stupid" They call her Sam the racist.

Had a friend in uni who spent the night in the drunk tank one Friday because he tripped and fell down in front of the police. Got done for "drunk in public." He did not enjoy it.

Yeah, that’s poor policing, too, imho.

“Get your mate home safely and keep him off the road! We’d better not get a call about him tonight!”

Interesting. Sam Kerr has lived and worked in England for a number of years but "isn't from the UK and doesn't know the police emergency number" but she knows enough to reference Sarah Everard.

She sounds like an entitled awful person who tried to get out of something she did because of who she is and what she does for a living. I'd be happy to see her in jail for a while.

The Sarah Everard reference becomes a lot more relevant when you read that the taxi driver diverted them to the police station under the instruction of the police.

For what it's worth, I think it sounds like her and Mewis are totally in the wrong for refusing to pay the cleaning bill whilst being paralytic in the back of a taxi.

However for the police to tell the driver to take them to a police station is completely insane behaviour and put all of them, driver included, in a potentially very unsafe situation. I have to say, if a taxi driver told me he was driving me to a police station because the police had told him to I wouldn't believe that was even a thing and I would start wondering if I was being abducted. Throw alcohol into the mix too and i can see how it spiralled.

I don't disagree with you. The police could have done better. Mewis and Kerr could have done much, much better.

The two footballers, behaved like spoiled, petulant children.
