The new Labour government in the United Kingdom has announced it will resume funding to the
UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).
“We are overturning the suspension of
UNRWA funding,” British Foreign Secretary David Lammy told Parliament on Friday, adding that the UN agency was “absolutely central” to providing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Sir Keir Starmer has pledged £13 million to the UN's Palestinian aid agency despite allegations linking its staff to the Oct 7 massacre. The funds will support Palestinian refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, and beyond. After meeting the agency's chief, Sir Keir called for a Gaza ceasefire, hostage releases, and better aid worker protection, despite Israel banning the agency in its territories.
