Madrid Travel

Init. Fly past Madrid for an extra 2 hours in the complete wrong direction only to then fly 2 hours back to Madrid. That is definitely commitment

Ed Miliband will probably have an aneurysm if he reads this lol
Ed Milliband would go on the direct route regardless of cost cos we'd be paying for it.

So looking at last year. The draw was 15th March and ticket info was published by City on 21st March for a 9th April game.

This year the draw was last Friday so I’m expecting some news tomorrow, based on being same as last year’s timescales.

The turnaround to sell tickets is a week shorter though this time - they’re going to have to shift 4000 tickets over this weekend then get them all posted middle of next week for delivery back end of next week/Monday the week after. For those flying Monday 17th it will be squeaky bum time for sure!
In the last games for Madrid we have had to collect the tickets from city either at the etihad or in Madrid on match day. And that was with the longer sales window and notice. So should be fine

Went to Madrid with sports options last year flight only - direct flight Manchester to Madrid direct return. Flights then pretty good 8am out and back midday the next day. Booking.com accommodation etc overnight. If they get enough interest they will do it for this game. Will be £389 pp flight only - Register interest sales@sportoptions.com

Wonder why they’ve not advertised this on here??Nothing on their website either.
Hate to say it but it sounds bollocks, sadly.,

Do you think there’s any chance they’ll do mobile tickets as there’s a few of us based in Spain. Collection in Madrid is the only other option. It all seems very late in the day

I’ve heard a rumour about mobile tickets too.. but the Spanish football clubs aren’t too keen on us English. So last few years it’s been paper tickets with our names on. City communicate a meeting point to collect tickets in Madrid though so if you buy through city you should be fine either way. They haven’t half left it to the last minute!

Flights and hotel booked. Just waiting for something now…let’s hope I qualify and they reach citizens. Otherwise be home end!

I hope you’re going to be dressed like BNPete The Badge if you’re going in the home end.

I'm sure we didn't have to pick them up last time

Last year was paper tickets posted out to your address. 2023 was collect at the Etihad or in Madrid. Didn't go in 2020 or 2022 so cant speak for those years, but in 2016 we had to frig about collecting at a hotel in Madrid on the day of the game which was a right ball ache.

Just spoke to our fantastic ticket office and they said they're waiting on Madrid confirming the ticket arrangements but are chasing them. I asked whether it would be tickets by post or collect at the Etihad or in Madrid, the girl said they didn't know and there would be information "soon" on the website.

I said the game is in less than 2 weeks, that's a lot to sort out before people start flying out on the Monday/Tuesday before the game. She didn't seem that arsed.

So overall a completely useless phone call, as usual with our ticket office!

They cant announce anything until Madrid sort the ticket cost, allocation etc as she says. Nobody at the ticket offices fault.

Something like this happens every season. Same in the past when the group stage is drawn and the opening game is 10 days after the draw is made. Gives next to no time at all for the club's and fans to get everything in order.
