Leyton Orient (A) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

It was absolutely pissing down on a shit pitch while we had a mish mash team out of youth players and new signings inc debuts. We were also only behind due to a freak goal which goes in 1/100.

Cup runs are full of such results and performances. In 2011 we almost went out to Notts County and barely had a shot on goal until Dzeko equalised late on.
Which year was it when we almost went out to Swansea? Thank heavens for Sergio? I think we may have won it that year too.

If we win the Cup, all City fans will remember how we got there. And we might well win the Cup. Some people weren't impressed. I was. Not our finest day, but plenty of skill and heart, and Khusanov showed me he's a player. Plenty of experienced senior pros have been sunk in FA Cup away days. He wasn't one of them.
You're probably right, I think the ref just pissed me off.

Yep, in the same way that our 3-1 win at Cheltenham will be remembered.
I remember that game,for a few reasons ; )

I've played on that ground before, I wasn't there for the City match, but when I turned onto the live footage at the time, I had a strange sensation and realised it was where I'd played, years ago, for a Civil service national cup tie, quarter finals I think..(.I'd been man of the match the round before ,scoring with a side foot volley from a high cross, and hitting the bar with a long range right- foot blast 2nd half )

but the opposition at Cheltenham and Gloucester Land registry was a step too far for me out on left midfield...and I was subbed at half time.i never got into the match....I was out of my depth.

I will also remember the City Cheltenham game for Phil Fodens mazy run where he dribbled past ,....I kid you not, 7 or 8 players....it was incredible, and we've not seen that since ,for of course Pep does not allow such skilful indulgence...generally..

Last but not least ,I'll remember the game for Fodens far post, cushioned, left foot volley finish, which looked simple, but I've seen many a player blast those sort of chances over the bar. His control was sublime, that's what great players do,make it look easy.he simply stunned the ball, taking the sting out of the pass, and calmly finished.

So, yes Alan.... Cheltenham away in the cup .....I Remember it wel !! l.; )

Excellent.

I get the feeling you’ll put it up with the 0-3 win at Burnley in pre season where Bradbury scored twice.

Racking my brains on this one, I referenced the game during match day post ( I was confident the 18/19 team would get a result even at 0-2 down, final score 3-2); it was either 2018 or 2019 - year of the quad.

Richie Wellens’ post match interview, absolute class about Pep, City and the owners a brilliant club and the owners have been great for east Manchester His dad is the only rag in a family all his uncles are City fans all credit to him

Fair play to Richie. But contrast that to the respect the so called journos give to him and the questioning compared to the dross and disrespect Pep has to deal with at every presser. Most of the journos sounded northern and I'm sure I heard Slimy Stone ( or his twin) towards the end.

Spoke to plenty outside the ground. Great to chat with, seemed to quite like City, unlike the thugs on the pitch.
Had a couple of mates sat in their section, said they chatted to a few who clocked they were City fans .
Said there was no problem with them, and were surprised they never heard them say a single negative remark about us.
Said they loved watching us in recent years and Pep is a genius.
Maybe everyone doesn't hate us afterall.

Orient were class today in every possible way - the players (apart from a few nightmare tackles), the coach and the fans. They have some seriously talented players and the team generally didn't run out of gas the way many have done against us over the years. I knew that game would be hard but no-one expected us to be facing last second scary moments. I love Pep's high risk and reward mentality - throwing new signings in. None of the other European countries have lower division sides that can compete like our lower division sides - culture shock to some of our players. I just hope Gonzalez is ok.
