I remember that game,for a few reasons ; )
I've played on that ground before, I wasn't there for the City match, but when I turned onto the live footage at the time, I had a strange sensation and realised it was where I'd played, years ago, for a Civil service national cup tie, quarter finals I think..(.I'd been man of the match the round before ,scoring with a side foot volley from a high cross, and hitting the bar with a long range right- foot blast 2nd half )
but the opposition at Cheltenham and Gloucester Land registry was a step too far for me out on left midfield...and I was subbed at half time.i never got into the match....I was out of my depth.
I will also remember the City Cheltenham game for Phil Fodens mazy run where he dribbled past ,....I kid you not, 7 or 8 players....it was incredible, and we've not seen that since ,for of course Pep does not allow such skilful indulgence...generally..
Last but not least ,I'll remember the game for Fodens far post, cushioned, left foot volley finish, which looked simple, but I've seen many a player blast those sort of chances over the bar. His control was sublime, that's what great players do,make it look easy.he simply stunned the ball, taking the sting out of the pass, and calmly finished.
So, yes Alan.... Cheltenham away in the cup .....I Remember it wel !! l.; )
