On Friday, the ITV main commentator claimed that Man Utd and Liverpool were England's 2 biggest clubs. I wonder what you thought about that? It annoyed me but it's probably still true. City have a growing support in Manchester, England and the world. I've been watching the South American u-20s in Vnenezuela and at half-time the cameras zoom into the crowd, and I have seen loads of Argentinian fans with City shirts. No Utd. I also know international students who chose to study in Manchester because they supported City but at the same time I think that becoming a football fan is a generational thing. Man Utd and Liverpool were easily the most popular clubs at school when I was growing up. Football fans don't change colours, they might stop going. I think many blues stopped going but came back after the takeover. Man Utd and Liverpool became popular over decades of success and City have seen large growth in our fanbase. We can fill the Etihad with new fans for Cup games against Salford when maybe 75% of season ticket holders don't show up and that's because City's support amongst 6-18 year olds has exploded in Manchester over the last 15 years because we have been the top side in Manchester ever since 2012. But if City were 13th and played Leicester on a Friday night, we couldn't get a crowd of 73k. No way. So reluctantly I have to accept than Man Utd are still bigger than City but the gap has closed during the last decade. It will close again when the new stand opens.
There is no question our fanbase is growing, Marvin.

I live in the Bradford area, and I regularly see kids in City shirts. A former colleague, who is a Newcastle supporter, has a young son, who is City fan, and brought him to the Salford game.

Mrs Vienna made sure our two grandchildren, who live in York, are Blues, and a few years ago, our grandson told us that four or five of his classmates were City fans, too.

Pre-takeover, he would have been the only one.

Why are every clubs finances open to scrutiny but these have their accounts lodged in the Cayman Islands where they cannot be scrutinised.
They’re listed on the NY stock exchange, and their financials are all public. But the ownership chain is a different story. That’s where things can get hidden . The main issue is the debt they owe from the Glazier buyout. If they ever get bought out, that could be a problem. But luckily, they don’t seem interested in selling.

Was on the bus to the ground for a game last season and a girl had her son with her,was talking to her and she was from Newcastle all geordie supporters her family bar her son who loves City, the wee fella must have been 8-9 years old..

Micah needs to go though… broadcasters should be all over Nedum… but presumably as he’s not a household name, doesn’t scream and shout, has decent insight and knowledge… then they bypass him for … Warnock!
Nedum has said he’s doesn’t want to be tied into a contract he’s had offers but it’s not what he wants enjoys being able to be selected in what he does Most Sundays he’s on FiveLive such a joy to listen to his intelligence shines through

The Glazers played a blinder when they bought the club using other people's money, have raked off a tidy income ever since and scored a good few quid off Catweazle, no particular reason for them to sell that I can think of.They're ambivalent as far as football is concerned, it's just business and not being in the CL or at the top of the PL only concerns them from a financial perspective. Much as I am enjoying their current financial predicament it's kind of a shame.

I'd expect every club has Insurance for players having injuries not individually named players I'd guess..
I somewhat doubt there is a policy that covers injuries either individually or collectively the premium would be astronomical and not a cost to benefit logic

I’d never heard that before, mate.

That explains a lot.

How many times have you taken the piss out of the GLAREZS?
How many times have you taken the piss out of your raggy mates or rags you see on the streets?

My point being, it doesn’t matter to you, me, or any other Blue what UMS think, as we’re never going to meet them. But we all get lots of mileage out of rags we know, and they’re the ones that really care what happens on the field.

In terms of trophies won historically, they are number 1 and 2.

I think there's also an element of social media overtaking "legacy" media, like we've seen in politics. It's a generational change.

Top jobs at TV channels and newspapers are generally held by people whose careers were established 1980-2010, when Liverpool and United were dominant, so they perpetuate that idea.

I thought City would compete but hadn't expected us to become as dominant as we have in the last 10. Another decade like this and United will be considered a relic.

He also comes across as the kind of guy that's looked after his future after football. Intelligent enough to put a few quid away so probably doesn't need the money

Didn’t Nedum achieve three A grades at A-level, and then do his accountancy exams?

I seem to remember something along those lines.

He’s clearly a very intelligent bloke.

United remind me of Woolworths, a name that everyone knew in it's heyday but these days it's only a certain age group that remember what they once were and that is forever diminishing.

Yup, definitely has his head screwed on. Probably doesn't want to be told to pander to the red scum on Sky

Summat aint right. He scored 32 goals, singlehandedly got them into a CL place and won Ten Hag a trophy. Then the following season he looked more like a competition winner, with the game passing him by in every direction.

Can't think of anyone in the past who has had such a drop off, while not being injured.
He scored 32 goals in all competitions and most of those in the europa and carabou cup.

He’s shit, always been shit and just like Andros Townsend, scores the odd wonder goal.
