Real Madrid post match thread

PSG who looked like they will finish behind us about 3 weeks ago until we played them, they had a piss easy game today ripping apart the French Fulham 3-0

we really fucking needed the exact shit results vs Juventus, Feyenoord, Sporting and throwing away the 2-0 lead vs PSG to end up vs Real already. even fate wanted it like this.

To be honest even with a defensive set up we struggled to contain them. I think they would have ripped us a new one if we had been more attack minded.

I thought they were much better than us and deserved to win but the manner of the defeat is hard to swallow. Not unsurprising though given what we have seen this season. I fear more to come in the next couple of games too. Injuries don’t help either and we seem to get them every game.

The midfield is so slow now. De Bruyne was blowing out of his arse in the 15 mins before he went off, Bernado is running around like a headless chicken with no one supporting his press so it’s completely ineffective and Kovacic and then Gundogan are brought on to shore it up! Combined age of about 125! The engine room is fucked unfortunately and that’s not going to improve as their legs have gone. When teams break or pass the ball quickly, these players can’t get back and we are in trouble.

Madrid were very good though I thought. I think they will win the second leg fairly comfortably from what I saw tonight and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them win it.

When I say I wanted to see us go at their defence, I'm not neccesarily wanting an all out gung ho approach. Just wanted a quick, more direct attack. Wingers that want to beat their man, midfielders considering playing a ball in behind once in a blue moon, perhaps getting a cross in for haaland to attack.

I feel like we could actually have been more defensive than we were but with a quicker more direct attack still have been more considerably more threatening too.

It's the insistence on trying to build a slow 5 minute attack that almost always results in us losing the ball cheaply and offering no threat to their goal throughout that I disapprove of. It's pointless because we don't have the precision to keep the ball and we don't have that front press to win it back instantly and turn it into that sustained relentless pressure that eventually got us goals.

Think Ed was caught napping as he was trying to calculate Saudi Riyal to Brazilian Reals
Or maybe he’s mentally tapped out after we refused his transfer
Get the Liverpool reserve Callaher

agree 100% what a waste really..from well thought out planned buys to basically..a numbers game...money ball theory out the window...no effort re long term planning fk me we have sunk
We supposedly if you believe reports and ITK’s we’ve gone from going toe to toe on £100m with Arsenal for Rice and tried to reduce Bruno’s buy out clause if £100m from Newcastle to buying some no mark because he had a reasonable £60m buyout

Doku and Savhino to replace sterling and mahrez

And two kids no one had ever heard of to step I. For stones Ake and Dias

God only know who we will get to replace KDB and Bernardo.

I agree. It’s painful to watch at times. We gave it a go and can’t knock the effort as that was very good all night. We are just not the same team now and it’s happened very quickly.

We were decent for much of the first half, the team on paper looked a bit weird but once the players got to grips with it I thought we played well

We then slowly morphed into the shite version of ourselves

Taking off Akannji an Grealish didn’t help, then within Ake gone the whole system had to be re jigged

We then end the game with three old men in midfield and the nerves got the better of us

Never really thought we’d go through over the two legs but taking a lead over there at least kept the tie alive

Looks like it’s fa cup or bust
we aint winning any big tight games this season.. Newcastle in a semi..ffs they will romp it for e.g.

Savinho is an upgrade on Sterling.

Meet anyone decent in the FA cup and we are out, luckily there are very few decent teams left. And crucially our bogey teams are gone, Spurs Boro Wigan

Eddie was obvipusly not 100% fit, he couldn't take goal kicks or hit it long.

2 things should happen in that situation, he should not try those passes if he isn't fit enough to do them and we should stop fucking about passing backwards to him all the time and try passing forwards

Yes I’m saying that. not one of them will be good enough for us. They were panic buys. They remind me of the transfer window when we won the league with Mancini.they are not good enough from were we came from or where we want to go. All huge downgrades on the players they’re supposed to be replacing. And you can add Doku and Savhino to that list
Well I'm sorry but It appears you've really lost your marbles mate .
Come on. Dust yourself down. Take courage and get ready for the weekend because we are not lying down. Not for anyone. We have a top 4 spot to fight for.
