Vincent Kompany | Bayern Munich Manager

Why relax? He’s doing an incredible job and has completely transformed their style of play—they’re playing terrific football. If he can achieve that there, he can absolutely do it here as well. I’m completely serious—we should really consider bringing him back.
Ide put money on him coming back …… it’s just when ?

Wow! Can’t even have a sly dig at Mourinho anymore!!

This is the same twat who thinks Pep fucked him out of titles, and just wants “justice!”

Did you all think I just woke up and couldn’t read Wikipedia?!

What has Mourinho done for you lately…unless you’re deep into Turkish football?!

“Three! Three! Respect!”

There was no dig at Mourinho. You just questioned what Mourinho had won, when Pep was appointed with the presumed inference being he had not been that successful. He clearly had at that stage, which highlights the foresight of the Barca directors at the time and, in relation to this thread, highlights top clubs are prepared to appoint managers without the necessary cv of past trophies.

Brave move, but paid off handsomely. Be interesting to see how Vincent does.

I was trying to be sarcastic!

Mourinho was a good coach, and they were pals, but Txiki knew Pep and knew he not only bled blue and red, unlike Mourinho, but had done a great job with the juniors.

Managed a Burnley side and brought them back up, yet that same side and the British media launched a smear campaign against him immediately the German's came knocking, something they didn't do for certified failures like Lampard, Rooney, Gerrard even Neville. Some papers and fans even went ahead to suggest it was Bellamy that was really the "mind" behind Kompany, It was as if they believed Bayern shouldn't give him this once in a life time opportunity.

Honestly if I was Kompany I wouldn't even want anything to do with any British team. It shocked me that the "conservative, nasty" German's welcomed Vinny with open arms, while the "liberal, accepting" British media and fans tried to tear him down. Makes you question everything you know or think you know.

He could have sat down and complained like Sol Campbell but he took a different route, go where you are appreciated and wanted is what I say.

Fair enough. The message must have lost its sarcasm as it travelled across the pond.

Still a great decision at Barca, real sliding doors moment.

Just a question but how easy is it to judge VK as a top flight manager since the Budesliga is pretty much a one horse/team league? I certainly don’t follow neither the league nor Bayern. Just asking a question.

Would Kompany want to come and manage City?

Maybe his aim is to have a statue outside the Allianz and have a managerial legacy there, like he’s had a player legacy at City.

Would he run the risk of ruining his legacy at City? Statue outside from his fantastic achievements as a player, but a fanbase booing Pep and his team at the end of recent games after a few bad months casting aside the eight years we’ve just witnessed.

If I was Vinny, I’d be thinking of leaving City well alone and having a managerial career elsewhere.

We're almost going to be facing a rags after pisscan situation....no one is going to stack up to what Pep has done (at least not initially) and they are huge shoes to fill.

I'll be honest though, I would love Vinny to give it a go because I think he'd be fucking brilliant at City (completely understand your point tho).

He’s done nothing to warrant managing City, just like he had done nothing to warrant managing Bayern. They took a chance, maybe it will work, maybe it won’t.

BBC website has a nice piece about Vinny, which is also available on BBC Sounds.

One thing that troubled me was the language used by Troy Townsend, the Kick It Out guy.

For me, he repeats a lot of racist tropes, with no facts to back it up. We can talk about the merits of the advancement of black coaches in predominantly white footballing countries, but the notion that blacks have to work “twice as hard” just to get the job isn’t “kicking it out,” it’s creating it!

Vinnie got Burnley promoted playing a style of play unique at the club, and smashing records in the process. He is now top of the pile in Germany, and well ahead of the rest. At the current time, it is not a one-club league either: he arrived with Bayern having finished third, 18 points behind the champions, so credit where it is due. We know all about his leadership skills.

Funny the craven English media don’t seem to spouting that Vinny was the “eighth choice” for Bayern any more. I know we all view Bayern as the German rags but I am firmly behind them this season, Vinny is one of our own and loving his success, even if it’s at the German rags :-)

They are more the German Rangers. Their fans are the negative stereotype of the average German. Saying that, next 2 games I hope Vinny absolutely rag dolls the Lesser Greens.
