Vincent Kompany | Bayern Munich Manager

When you look at it like that it is even more mind-boggling.

In one hand he was set to manage in the second division following relegation, which if he didn’t bring them back up he’s a goner. Then he gets the chance to go to Bayern, where he’s equally fucked if he doesn’t hit the ground running or if they have a season similar to this one.
Still a no brainer to take it. Even if he got Burnley promoted which is a big if. Struggle again the season after and he’s probably getting sacked then with limited prospects. Win a couple of leagues with Bayern and a good champs league run and he’s in the mix for all the big jobs.

Vinny also knows that even if he doesn’t make it in management, he could literally do anything he wants to, whether that’s business, politics or sport.

It still does make you wonder why Ralf Ragnick had turned down the job in the first place considering he did briefly take the rags job who are in worse state than Bayern.

To be fair, I don't think many on here are questioning his decision to take the job, if that is indeed what happens. It's one of the biggest management jobs in football; of course he'll take it. It's more questioning Bayern's decision to offer him the job.

In one.

Bayern obviously see potential in him and like the style of football he tries to implement. I think he'll do well there. Good move for all parties I suspect.

The same applied if he stayed at Burnley, they would have had to come straight back up otherwise he was done.
That’s very short sighted imo. At Bayern he can show what he can do with far better players than the ones at Burnley. But there also lies the ‘brave’ part. It’s a huge step from Burnley to Bayern.

In some ways, there is less pressure on him taking Bayern now than had he taken it on the last round of manager musical chairs, or maybe next one. They finished 3rd, haven't won a single thing, and there is a good challenger with a perception of a top young manager in charge as an opponent. So the expectation on him isn't to keep winning, buy to get back to being top dogs in Germany. Had he come in on the back of 12 titles in a row, and still won, he would hardly have got any real plaudits as it would be seen as a given. But if he wins anything them now, he will be seen as having improved a team in a bit of a state. Good luck to him.
