Like a lot of the current squad Ederson peaked upon sealing the Treble. He's been getting worse ever since. This season has seen a dramatic drop off. Sad but there's little room for sentiment if you want to win stuff at this level and that's what Pep and the recruitment team have been guilty of IMO.

Anyway, Eddie and Walker should have been replaced post treble season.

Bernardo, Grealish and Akanji should have been replaced last summer.

KDB you could argue should have been replaced last summer too. Though I'd keep him on as he can become our Modric if hes willing to accept that role. He can be a game changer even if he's having a shit day but it's clear he can't last more than 60mins

They've all been legends. Anyone part of the squad in the last 4 years will go down in City history but father time catches up with everyone at some point. We've absolutely squeezed every drop out of this squad and it's telling now.

These players plus Gundo and Nunes need to go. Gundo absolute hero but looks leggy. Nunes just isn't good enough and with summer recruits coming in, the man has no place in the squad tbh.

The likes of Rico and Kovacic should be bench warmers (particularly Rico - I don't think he'll ever be good enough to start but he's young and could improve, ya never know, stranger things have happened).

Hopefully the summer revamp revitalises Foden and he can form part of the new core crop of players. If summer recruitment goes well the group that are left (Haaland, Marmoush, Foden, Nico, Rodri, Dias, Gvardiol, Stones + Reis & Khusanov) can form a team capable of challenging for multiple major honors again.

Ake. Great servant but will there be room for him after the summer especially with his with his age and injury record this year?

Savinho & Doku - the jury is out on them. Both have been inconsistent. On current form, I'm not sure either can become world class like their most obvious past comparators - Mahrez and Sane respectively. McAtee - is he good enough? Seen glimpses of brilliance but can he step up and be a genuine starting XI contender? It's these players just below the starting XI that have a massive impact on success. They have to be putting enough pressure on starters know those in the 1st XI can't drop their levels for fear of being dropped. At the moment nobody at this level of the squad seems good enough to this.

Bobb is our best promising youngster and I'm sure will be immense for us. Hopefully Echeverri can follow but I know little about him. Likewise with McFarlane, how much can he push our senior LB for a place?

We have a massive job in the summer. Hope the fucking club world cup bollocks doesn't ruin everything.

But yeah Ederson - time to go mate. It's been good but nothing lasts forever.
How is Bobb better performing than Savio? Has he ever started a league fixture for us?

If he'd rather be in Saudi then politely send him on his way. Something is clearly off with him, he's been brilliant for us but always had those kind of errors in him he showed Tuesday night. However we can't be having players in the squad whose heads are elsewhere.

I will never understand the attraction of the Saudi league for players in their prime years and who are already multi multi millionaires. Its baffling to me.

Sets them, their family and their friends up for life.

I get it more for players that have won lots of trophies.

Glad this has been posted. A few have praised Ederson for the save against Bellingham and blamed Lewis, but Lewis clearly had every right to expect Ederson to just claim the low cross and prevent the danger in the first place.

I didn't say he was performing better than Savinho. Re-read and try again. Next question.
You said he was our best performing youngster.
With Bobb being a year older than Savinho I'd assumed you were considering Savinho a youngster too, in that analogy.

I'm not one to care about these comments between posters.

But the other poster clearly wrote "best promising youngster" and yet you wrote performing.

He is saying Bobb has a higher potential than the other 2 wingers.

That being said, how anyone can criticize Savio this season is beyond me.

He has been one of our standout performers, and is clearly going to be one of the top wingers of the world.

I don't even think Bobb's future is as a winger, but more as a 10/8.

Him and his own are already set up for life though, he’s probs been on circa 200k a week for 8 years at city? And could probably play for another 8 for us if he wanted.

I’ll never understand it, even the average championship wage is around £20k a week.

So you would turn down someone more than double your wages for 10% of the work for the next few years?

I remember working out that when Mahrez left at the end of July 2023 he would have made in 13 or so weeks over there the same as he would have banked from the remaining 2 years left on his City deal.

Of course I wouldn’t, but mine and a professional footballers situations are not in a way the same.

Ederson has the ability to play at the highest level of football for at least another 5 years and would probably earn at least £50m in doing so. He could then make the move to Saudi for a few years after with him and his family already never having to think about money again.

I can understand players in the twilight of their careers making the move but not those in their prime and with the ability to still play at the top level.

If you read this thread back, most people on here don’t give him 5 weeks let alone 5 years.

Maybe he’s tired and wants a change. He’s won everything he can in club football, so why not chill out in Saudi Arabia for the next 5 years and earn £200m with no stress?

He won't even get anywhere near Sterlings numbers.

That league is probably his level
