Stop Crying Your Heart Out Rodri Banner

Well, as one of the people who had a small hand in making the banner happen, I'm pretty happy with how it went.

Rodri loved it (and took a picture of it at the game). Liam Gallagher tweeted us (1894) because he liked it. I'd say on social media platforms like X/Instagram, the response was very positive. The response on here is more 50/50 (I think that potentially reflects the age demographics on here—I think it's fair to say some of the older blues don't appreciate the 'banter' displays as much as the younger fans). We completely accept that not everyone is going to love every display. We get some wrong and some right.

We've always been a fanbase that will call out bullshit. The way Madrid behaved when Rodri won the Ballon D'or was embarrassing and deserves to be mocked.

As a side benefit, the media response has been huge. Whether it's positive or negative, we have news outlets all over the world reporting on it. This builds influence (for example, journalists reaching out to us for stories, we then have a relationship and can work with them in the future).

As always, we are more than happy to receive feedback. We're trying to do our best and we'll keep going. If you'd like to become an 1894 member, join us

You'll receive our mailers to see what we're up to. You can vote on and fill in surveys that help us decide what routes to take from displays to fan activism campaigns.

All the best blues!

I loved it pal.

A lot of the pundits/media didn't get it and felt (like some on here) it was a great way to motivate Vinicius and he had the last laugh. But they're missing the fucking point. Vinicius has won plenty of European Cups and other trophies. But he wants the individual accolades and was such a spoilt child over not getting it the whole club didn't bother to turn up to the awards. That's nothing to do with the result of the match and needed highlighting.

See this twitter poster asking carragher why wind up world class players :( he's not answered yet

It's arrogant and petty, but I love banners like that. If you can't take the mick out of your rivals, then football is dead. It's always been about tribalism, rivalry.

Realistically, football, for any of us who can't make a living out of playing, is a show. It's entertainment. You need villains and heroes.

It would be incredibly boring if everyone was super nice and polite.

the banner was great, but the quote should have been left out

Exactly!

Their club acted like spoilt brats. What's more Mancunian than winding up a bunch of cry-arses who can't take it?

it was aimed at garragher who was quick to dig us but his own well not really he's a boyhood everton fan has said nothing about this and 30 years balloons they all had memory of a goldfish that lad

That's funny because last time I looked it was organised by France Football magazine.

And somewhat ironically, the only reason it's gotten to 43 pages is because of cunts like you
You learn something new everyday. I genuinely thought it was organised by Uefa, please accept my sincere apologies.

I can't believe the outrage of many of our own fans and the media in general after the banner. I personally, loved it, and it let the mardarses of Madrid know what we thought about them disrespecting Rodri and our club.
I would agree but what about the banner at the swamp, that pissed off us big time and made them look very small time.

Rodri rightly won the Ballon D'or, that in itself is enough.

For me, Kindergarten level. For your laughs and entertainment only.
Not too smart, but deeply rooted in (English) banter mentality. So deep, you don't even seem to realize how childish it appears for non-English like myself.

If we want to be a top club we should be standing relaxed above those topics and NOT even mention them (agreed, the banner w/o any text would have had style indeed!). THAT would be superior and it would wind up Madrid fans and officials even more.
Instead we gave a helpful motivation. For a laugh.

Didn't decide the match but looks quite stupid after handing over the tie in repeated and unforgivable clownery. We didn't have the last laugh.

Just my view offered, in respect.
I know you will do it again next time.

The only one who seems to be crying is you. In fact, I don't know where the fuck you've popped up from because it's the first time I've ever seen your username on a thread. There's definitely a fucking whiff about you. I might have to rifle through your post history to see what other shite you've been spouting.
You're a grown man, who has taken offence by my opinion on a banner and you want to stalk my profile to see what I've historically posted. You crack on you weird crank. I've been a season ticket holder since 92 but if you need someone to vouch for me, you can speak to Ric if you want.

Football at the elite level is all about tiny margins.

Pep is a manager that never slags off the opponents and their manager/players in anyway, in fact he showers them with praise for a reason, not to give them the slightest hint of motivation.

Madrid and especially Vini must have looked at that banner and thought these fuckers are having it, did we lose because of it, NO but it may have given them that tiny extra motivation.

Rodri won the Ballon D'or. Mockery just allows them a come-back.
