Joint statement from the Nordic-Baltic leaders

Nordic-Baltic leaders’ statement (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, 14 February 2025).

We stand fully and firmly behind Ukraine. Ukraine must be able to prevail against Russia’s war of aggression, to ensure a just and lasting peace. The outcome of the war will have fundamental and long-lasting effects on European and transatlantic security.

Our priority now is to strengthen Ukraine. Our countries are some of the largest per-capita contributors of military assistance to Ukraine. We will further bolster our support.

We are engaging with Ukraine, the United States and all our NATO Allies and EU partners on how to achieve peace through strength. We fully commit to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Ukraine should be given strong security guarantees. Ukraine and Europe must be involved in any negotiations to achieve just and lasting peace.

We are investing strongly in our own defence. We are determined to further strengthen our collective security and defence, and to shoulder our responsibility for peace and security in Europe.

Totally agree and, I wouldn’t lose sleep if Trump was swinging next to him
 
Part of me hopes Trump and Vance fuck this up so bad that they storm off thinking we will panic and leave Europe to sort this all out once and for all.
One of the reasons our leaders always appear weak is because they have to constantly think what the USA will say.

Free of USA bullying our leaders would have no choice but to step up to the plate.

Thanks to Ukriane, the rest of Europe would muller the Russian Army in a few weeks and easily throw them out in my opinion.

We could then stand proud and be free of the current loons in charges of the USA.

What I am liking is that European countries are coming together to fight the threat. From our perspective, we’ve seen our Government making strident steps to do deals with EU members, promoting and leading the fight against tyranny.

Yep. He’s well and truly hitched his wagon to the Trump train and the longer Trump is in power and the more bollocks he comes out with, the harder it gets for them to sound reasonable.

He’s also followed (at best) an equivocal stance on Putin, independent from (or maybe in conjunction with) his association with Trump, running this oft repeated lie that this was down to NATO breaking some undefined and unverified undertaking that it would not expand eastwards.

To be fair he probably read the report on Tory voters who stuck with the Tory's rather than bailing.
The number 1 reason was Farage's stance on Ukraine which appeared to be pro Putin.
Hence his change of tack on Thursday morning to say Ukraine have to join NATO to agree to any peace proposals.

The Trump administration has suggested to Ukraine that the U.S. be granted 50% ownership of the country’s rare earth minerals.
I've posted before that they are estimated at 15 Trillion or 15,000 Billion.
The US has sent $70 Billion in military aid,and in return they want $7500 Billion + when the war is over they will send troops to Ukraine for protection.

If Dublin was taken by Russia and giving up Dublin was the price of peace, I'd give them Dublin. But would that be too cruel on the Russians?
