I've given up with mainstream media, and it's been a liberation. Instead of the daily agitation, I can spend more time doing things I enjoy. It's not just the post-truth, it's the defence mechanism they've cultivated, surrounded by virtual bodyguards of burner accounts and the burner accounts of their colleagues and mates to shunt criticism down sidetracks and try to intimidate their critics.

Still can't figure if it was because nothing was happening on his side of the pitch against Newcastle, or it was because of Khusanov that nothing was happening on his side of the pitch, but I was reminded of what I don't remember who said about Pat Jennings and Peter Schmeichel, i.e. that they didn't look flash because their positioning and the marshalling of the players around them was preventative. Let's hope Khusanov was making it look easy rather than having an easy ride.

Nowhere is anyone making the point that the PL have brought this on themselves through their own arrogance (partly) and incompetence (mostly). All they had to do is write APT rules that treated all PL clubs fairly and consistently. In their rush to screw City and Newcastle without damaging anyone else they have been amateurish beyond belief. That is where the blame for all this lies, not with big, bad City.

Oh, and on Samuel, I think he is enjoying this a little too much. Over the last couple of years, he has taken a bit of stick from his fellow "professionals" for standing up against FFP and APT and he seems to be giving a bit back with some pretty ott assessments at the moment. No problem with that from me, but it's a little surprising.
100% agree. The PL turns over multi billion pound per year, they are amateurs at best and Masters is vastly under qualified.

A company of that size in any other industry, Master would be sacked..

Spot on. What gets habitually ignored, in some instances unquestionably consciously so, is that the PL could have avoided this if they were a competent organisation. That’s the fucking story, not the fact that City are ruining football.

I thought it telling that last week Samuel elected to mock Draper’s absurd comments from last year (although he did not mention him by name). Think that’s an unusual step for a sports journalist. Reckon there’s a convention that they avoid inter-journalistic ad hominem for perfectly rational reasons.

Bullying is right . Just a reminder of the opening sentence on that match from Will Unwin in The Guardian .

"It took fewer than six minutes of Abdukodir Khusanov’s debut for the £33.8m centre-back to be given a round of sarcastic applause for making a successful five-yard backpass to Ederson".

Sarcastic applause ????? Give me strength ....

Although , fair play , he softened as the article went on

It’s almost as if he hasn’t got the first fucking clue what he’s on about.
It’s what happens when a football reporter pretends to understand finance.

i think Samuel’s attack on some of his colleagues is because he knows the full background. He knows where all the leaks have come from, he knows which club directors are involved, and he knows which reporters have acted dishonestly and with bad faith. Samuel is old school and believes in truth and impartiality.

James Ducker? Absolutely never heard of him before. As said in the video, he’s clearly full of self-loathing. Horrible inside and out.

Samuel has taken a few hits from other journalists this last couple of years, iirc. He seems to be enjoying himself at the moment, even to the extent of going a bit far making his points.

Who cares? Good for him :)

Edit: Oh, I made that point before. Never mind, it was good enough to be repeated :)

There has been no scrutiny of Masters at all in the media. No questions asked about how he got the job. Not one single journalist has bothered to check his CV which shows his only background is sales and marketing. This is why people have totally lost trust in the mainstream media.

Samuel might well have believed that Draper’s comments were directed specifically at him after Martin’s take on the initial verdict, and is now returning the compliment in the same no names, no packdrill manner

It was the same with the interest-free loans owners have lent to themselves. Wall-to-wall coverage 24/7/365, financial and legal guests, and in 17 years, it was never raised, let alone considered it would be an issue at the Tribunals. The same with Chelsea's spending, and we keep being reminded of the consequences for City should the worst happen, but no interest in the consequences for the people who brought this action should they lose.

It’s funny because when the original APT judgment came out, that stupid **** stridently asserted that the result wasn’t a win for City. Braindead ****.
He also said out loud that unlawful doesn't mean illegal despite the Oxford English Dictionary stating they're synonyms.

Add ignorant and desperate to braindead **** and I'm with you

Rachel from accounts lined up as his successor?

We can only conject on the amount of ribbing Martin has had to endure over these last two years from his peers in the press.
Behind the scenes, I bet he has had a torrid time. Good on him for outing an idiotic viewpoint. It warrants ridicule.
If it continues I'm putting 500 on us winning the 115 :)

To quote the great Spike Milligan:

"Is it because the future is so unknown, the present so traumatic, that we find the past so secure?"
He also had: "I told you I was ill" as the epitaph on his gravestone. He had it translated into Irish to avoid it being vetoed by the church.
