The silence from France & Germany about the US betrayal of Ukraine & NATO is deafening. Both are now effectively controlled by right wing pro-Russia majorities and prospects for Zelensky and his people are grim. It's carve up - yanks get the minerals and Putin gets the land.

If that happens would anyone be surprised if the place falls into more chaos. Will the Ukrainians take this lying down, do they have a choice?

It is a disgrace but is anyone really surprised.

If Putin does not have something on Trump than i would be shocked.
 
Thinking the UK need to go on a huge recruitment drive in seriously rebuilding our forces including soldiers all the systems to support them. The RAF and navy need bolstering will cost billions. National security is paramount!

How is the country going to fund that?

I'm afraid our government are going to do a lot of hand wringing and reluctantly go along with imposing an unjust peace.

We're fucked,as regards giving Ukraine any meaningful help once the US pulls the plug.

We've been struggling to recruit in peaceful times, going to get even more difficult now we know what they will be used for

It's not just feet on the ground that will be expensive and difficult to recruit.

I know from family that an awful lot of the transport & kit has been being patched up again & again for years.

Probably raise taxes or something like that I agree we’re goosed. Such a shame how our forces have been bottomed out over the years.

Income tax rise unfortunately but Starmer needs to get on national tv and make it perfectly clear the alternative if we don’t build up our forces, hell I’ll volunteer to go back to Germany had a ball in the 90s
 
ruSSians will not accept peace keepers, not that they'd be of any use

Ukraine cannot hold elections without lifting martial law, which it cannot do as it's at war, plus all political parties agreed not to hold any election until after the war is concluded
And you can add to that, the favourite to take over from Zelensky is Valerii Zaluzhnyi, and he's more anti ruSSian than Zelensky
