The Squad planning thread

Realistically thinking about next season.

Kovacic - still good enough for another year - he aint good enough - step below what we need
Grealish- who's Realistically gonna sign him for 40 million plus?! (So he probably stays) - we need to ofload him - make it clear he aint going to play- he has been a failure and we need to take the hit on the transfer value - does no good having him hanging around for us or him
Stones- signed 5 year contract last year so he ain't going anywhere - he will sit out his contract unless some club take a risk on him
Ederson- still the perfect fit for us - agreed BUT his mentality needs to change
Silva - can still do a job - agreed - but does he want to?
Kdb - can still do a job off the bench - no he cant - zero sentimentality is required here....KDB is finished

Walker - will be sold - agree
Gundogan- will be sold - think he will go on a free to Turkey
Nunes not good enough sold - agree

Bobb - basically new signing - lot of hype for a player who has hardly played - we cant pin our hopes on him - agreed he looks very promising but he has only played snippets and can he has to be able to maintain form
Rodri - basically new signing -agree

 Sign
Dean Donny Huijsen Wijsmuller - no idea who they are
Florian Wirtz - unfortunately he aint coming - no chance

Cambiasso - think he will be our first signing.

We cannot have ANY sentiment around ANY player....ths is why Viana is so important....He doesnt really know ANY of the players...he has no attachment to any of them whereas Txixi and Pep clearly will have....
Viana needs to come in and over the next could of transfer windows clear house of nearly all those you have mentioned above

Grealish and KDB should be first let go - one is a legend and deserves to be treated as such but at the end of the day he needs to be moved on....Greaish Id dropthe asking price to about 20m and see if anyone bites.....always overhyped nothing more than average

Bernardo and Ederson - decide what you want to do! Stay or leave as especially with Ederson his poor form has been down to his head being turned...Both can stay or leave but there has to be questions asked what they want and if there is any doubt sell them

Stones and Ake - both hugely injury prone - Pep said it himself the otherday - conversations are going to be had with players and agents...if you cant play then you dont stay - it doesnt matter how they leave (and both have been wonderful players) but they need to leave (but contracts as you say are there)

Walker - see him to Sheff utd - nominal fee or even on a free

Kova - some mid table prem team could take a chance on him - sell

We need Viana to be ruthless this summer and over the next 12-18 months...the rebuild will take sometime.

Nope.. not even close! Kova is the worst! Because it happens every fucking game. The guy is braindead!

To counter your argument.. there's a reason Real moved him on.. and even Chelsea moved him on. Would much rather have Valverde than Kova anyday!

P.S. Bony had malaria.. so lets take him off the list.. (wouldn't wish that on anyone)

Good one.

I know this season makes it seem this way but the last 2 seasons were a decline from the previous 5 imho.

Or maybe he's really motivated as he can win a trophy this year!
But we can't have valverde if kova stays or leaves

What a mess!

Kova, kev, stones, Bernie, jack, Gundy, must go

Ake, akanji, Dias always injured

Eddie likely to go so 2 keepers needed

We need at least 7 class first team players in or next season will be the same

Players that City should keep for next season and not make any calculations about them:

Khusanov, Reis, Dias, Gvardiol.
Rodri, Nico.Echeverri,Bobb
Doku ,Savinho ,Marmoush, Haaland

For everyone else, the options of how to best use them to cash in or how to get rid of them in order to remove their huge salaries and bring in useful players should be carefully examined.
That's what I mean especially

Stones, Akanji, Ake, Bernardo, Gundogan, Kovacic, Kevin and Grealish.

we need at least 7 players to look like a team again

Anyone seen this Existant fella on twitter? Has he any credibility at all or is he full of bs?

Too many changes in one window can be very detrimental. It is going to be a balancing act.
It certainly is. Keeping some of the players we have at present, who some posters are reluctant to see leave, will be a worse option. Our ageing players won't improve.

In one go it will be a difficult task in replacing them in one window. Still got to keep a couple back in the summer the question is who do you keep?

Saw today against Liverpool that we have some talented individuals in attack but no real coherence. I also think we’re lacking a natural leader in the middle of the park, and I don’t just mean Rodri or Haaland.

Assuming de Bruyne, Gundo, Kova, Walker, Phillips, Stones, and Nunes go, we hold onto Akanji and Grealish. Akanji stays because Ake (if he stays) and Dias can't really be trusted to stay fit. Grealish just because we're pretty sell staffed up front and have a lot of holes to address at keeper, defense and midfield.

City in for Trafford
Also said the other day that personal terms are done with Frimpong
Pie in the sky. Given how little information leaked about our four signings in the winter window, the likelihood of someone/something on social media being privy to our summer intentions in February is, well, fanciful.

Outs.

Eddie - Saudi (30 Mill)

Ake (fitness probs) (15 mill)
Stones (fitness probs) (15 Mill)
Akanji (assess pre season after surgery)
Rico (loan or gift him away)

Gundo (free)
KDB (Saudi or US - 30 Mill)
Bernie (20 mill)
Kova (free)
Nunes (20 mill)

Grealish (35 mill)

That should secure 160 million ISH and also take some huge money off the wage bill.

Then we need some young, quick athletic players.

I'm not sure we will get Wirtz. Top German internationals usually end up at Bayern.

We need to get this summer transfer window right. Otherwise we will be left In the scousers wake for another season!!

What I thought.

think this rebuild need to be so much bigger than many expecting.

the squad building since the treble win got us in this position. we should have gone for Raphina as a winger and was available for same price as the lesser player Doku who really isnt a Pep player while Raphina would have been.
we went for Rice, Bellingham, Paqueta and got Nunes.
Kovacic also not on the level as prime Gundo, nowhere near.
we sold Alvarez and were complacent to replace him only with Mubama thinking its ok for Haaland to start every single game.
