Out of 14 opportunities to create something, one ended up with a chance and none ended up with his own shot.

As simply fantastic as he was to get himself past the defenders, the output of the end product was poor.

That's brilliant wing play. There's 2 very good crosses in there that should have seen a city player on the end of them. The rest of the time I couldn't find a single instance where you can say "he should have done this instead there." Theres not a missplaced cross or a poor decision, he's just got nothing to target everytime he beats his man. foden and marmoush did a really poor job of getting themselves into the box and the team as a whole played far too slowly and allowed the dippers to bank up knowing that without haaland the only real threat is a low cross that they made sure they cut out. Doku did his job very well, it didn't result in anything because others weren't doing theirs.

I think part of the issue was timing - a lot of times he was skinning his man, the defence was well settled and the ball had been on that side of the pitch for some time. As a result, even though he got to the byline, there was little chance of the final ball resulting in a chance.

We used to be quicker at switching play to the other side - often, but not always through Rodri. At the moment we switch the play more slowly and defences have more time to realign.

To a lesser extent, Doku could speed things up a little himself. He seems to often take a few seconds before dribbling at his man, and I wonder whether that also gives the defence more time to settle in behind.

But completely agree - I don't think Doku did anything wrong. Quite the opposite.

Are you conflating style of left wing play with number of trophies? Or just trolling?
Think he's just saying that we could actually move the ball around the box quick enough for the wingers to not have to be so direct. Now it's just stagnant and relying on wingers beating 3 defenders just to get a cross in.

That’s a charitable interpretation. I saw it as a smart-arsed comment.

I agree with your tactical observation though.
