North Stand Construction Discussion

More rumours that some seats will be available in the expanded stand from the start of next season. Just read the notes of the last OSC meeting.
Five months to get the site in a reasonable condition to allow fans in. It’s harder to judge than the South Stand construction as there wasn’t two huge buildings being built next to it at the same time!

Looks as though they got the third support (on the eastern side) in place this afternoon. Pic from twitter.

great to see you back on your normal channel , out of interest who did you contact to regain access to google account? having troubles my self so wondered if you had any contacts ?
There is no way of contacting google direct.
You have to go on X (twitter) and follow TeamYouTube , then tag them in a post saying you cant recover your google account. They will answer a few times telling you to try all the things you have probably already tried before eventually sending you a message with a form to fill in. Then they decide if its legitimately your account and will do the steps so you can get it back

Chatting with the lads yesterday as I was relocated to SSL1, you can see a massive issue in around ten years, one of the lads has an 8 year old, he can’t get him a season ticket, so what will happen as time goes by it will start to cost more and more for him to get him a ticket and then no doubt he will have to move to sit with him. You’ve a bunch of FOC or near FOC like me who will slowly die away or stop going, so you have a group in the middle who can’t take their kids now because no season tickets or extortionate match day prices, will they stop going because they can’t take their kids and maybe just do one or two matches a season when finances allow. Now you will have a half empty stadium especially mid week nights because there’s no tourists and they’ve priced out locals. The kids of today have more choice if they can’t go to a match regular they will move on don’t underestimate gaming and other stuff these days.
If the match against Real Madrid the other night was against a lesser opponent then I reckon half the tourists wouldn’t have been there and there would’ve been lots of empty seats, similar if we had qualified after the first 4 games the other would’ve been dead rubber and no one would’ve gone. There were empty seats next to me yesterday and it was relatively cheap for a game which says a lot.

What has this got to do with the construction of the North Stand extension?

Not this time jrb will be early afternoon and prepared to give it a couple of hours. So hopefully capture some lifts cheers
I'm off tomorrow, so I 'might' nip down late morning.

If I do and get a picture of a lift, I'll post it.

At least that way you and CP will know the lift is happening.

Got my wife a ticket for the Salford game just 2 seats from me in Block 211. There was only one seat available in that block this time right in the middle of the back row so she gave the game a miss.

All through the match yesterday there was an empty seat where she sat last time, disgusting.

Thanks Jrb, I will have 3 batteries and a spare drone to make sure if they happen I can capture some. Cheers Stephen

It looks more like a year then 6 months. Delays are the norm in the construction industry 90% of handover dates slip by several months compared to the original programme.

Football stands for general admission are all about the structure with them mostly not being very intricate buildings internally overall. This means they can come together very quickly once that structure is in place.

Here’s what the South Stand looked like in late February 2015 as an example. It was open for the first home game against Chelsea in August.

I could definitely see a scenario with the North Stand where the first rows were open for the first home game and they phased open the rest leading up to Christmas or early 2026 when the Sky Bar completion would cap everything off.

Just caught up with the last 4 videos in one go 2 by SS 2 by CP. Thoughts for discussion.

Think the first sail is a trial/sample. Not so much the random location, but the fact that neither the caps behind it nor the 4 spandrels either side are done. The temporary clamps are still in. Can't see how they work around that, think that will disappear and reappear like the perforated horizontal panel did a few weeks ago.

The yellow Y-prong temporary supports are held back with cables to the terrace. Hard to spot amongs the existing retained cables, but they are there, each is tied back with 2 temp cables.

In the second video I was going to remark that as they were at the end of feb, wouldn't be their final height. They'd need something onto the top of the Y to take them above the existing cables. I guessed that would be the shorter Ys back to back. That has now happened in the latest video, worth noticing now that they have been extended.

The scaffold on top of the platform to the quadpod topper really is something. Scary stuff.

Would be surprised to see the roof beams start on Monday if being honest. They look like a bit more to go to get ready. If anything, think the topper of the quadpod looks closer to being ready to fit than the beams. But who knows, they tend to surprise us.

Think the roof beams won't be propped onto the old roof as we speculated previously. Think that was just for the platform for the mewps, and the propping will be possibly only to the new angles props onto the new terrace.
