I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

Under the terms of the Budapest Memorandum of 1994 Russia guaranteed to respect Ukraine's borders and sovereignty and not invade it in exchange for Ukraine giving up its nuclear weapons. The US and UK were also signatories to this agreement which also included Belarus (now a Russian puppet state) and Kazakhstan (still under heavy Russian influence) as well as Ukraine.
