It's not something that's really debatable I've literally seen him give up on defensive duties and walk back numerous times in numerous games this season. I'm not the only person to spot it, there's plenty of people saying thr same thing about him.

I hated losing the FA cup last year.
I saw some posts saying it would be worth it if it meant Ten Hag keeping his job. I don't agree it is ever worth losing to them for anything, but he did keep his job.

They also then backed him to the tune of many many millions.
Then sacked and paid him off. Then paid some more for a new manager, who was then told he has to sell to buy.
The new guy is even more out of his depth.
They are now on their knees financially. The cost cutting isn't going to save them.
Failing FFP/PSR will mean points deductions and fines. They are really in the shit.

So is it bad of me to think the other posters might have had a point?

I would but he's stopped taking my calls after I told him in the summer that 6 defenders werent enough for a 60-70 game campaign, and after I told him playing all your best defenders against Spurs in a cup competition we didn't even want to be in due to such a small squad was going to bite us in the arse big time and after I told him not to play suicidal tactics in the champions league that saw us lose to the likes of sporting and juve who didn't even make it to the last 16 themselves and after I told him not to play a kamikaze high line against mbappe, vinicius and rodrygo.

I've genuinely no idea what you've been watching if you haven't seen the total lack of effort off the ball from foden this season, I can only surmise your eyes have been glued to the ball with extreme tunnel vision to not notice it. Go look in the foden performance thread and you'll see dozens and dozens of other posters saying the same thing, I'm not claiming to see something nobody else can see here.
