Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

City need to go through all the Citizen cards and delete the ones that haven't been used for a few seasons. Those will mostly belong to away fans who have bought a citizen card to watch their team in the CL, PL, and FA Cup games. That will get rid of possible away fans in the home ends in the future.

I’m not sure huge numbers of away fans are paying £35 every season, and presumably similar amounts at numerous other clubs, on the off chance they get drawn against them away in the cup at some point in the future.

If that’s happened I always assumed it was for the PL game each season, not for the off chance of a cup draw.

Say if you live in NW England away from your home ground of your team in London, but close to 2 or 3 away games up here, I can certainly see some supporters who have the funds doing this each season at some NW clubs like ours.

There's a saturation level that might be being hit now, add to that blues being disillusioned by the sheer amount of tourists and the shit atmosphere.

Buy a citizens account for £35 you might get a ticket
Emails from the club to not be a ****
Club flogging blocks of tickets to one match attending fans
Sit with your friend or family member? Fuck you!

When you start shitting on your core support and stop your home being a fortress don't be surprised they just fuck you off.

Apart from that mate, it's all well and good.

Exactly.
We could have got tickets on Saturday, we could have even sat together for the first time this season. Not one of us fancied going 6pm kick time is shit.
Our next game we have booked ( no sat together ) is the villa game. Looks like we won't be going now as it might be moved. So only the wolves game left for us, unless that gets moved. Than that will probably be our last ever game. Shame but football isn't about the fans anymore.
I know a few fans of spuds, WHU Chelsea all have stopped going in the last two seasons, all for the same reasons. Price, tourists, half n half etc. It might just be an age thing as we are in our 60's !

Very honest of you to throw in that last sentence pal! It’s why the club needs those in their 20s and 30s going regularly so our match-going supporter base renews etc.

Re games, take your point about the Villa game. Would have thought the chances of both Villa and City losing in the quarters is pretty slim.

Liverpool are introducing rules that season ticket has to be used or transferred for at least 15 games.

They have around 500 that don't get used each home game apparently

They are rapidly losing the chance to get that age group onboard, even with our amazing success of recent years.
My two nephews had junior season tickets from being kids, paid for by my dad. (Who also attended then) As they got older, they left us, and moved to the South Stand where they loved the standing and the atmosphere.

Dad died, and for a couple of years they were old enough to buy their own tickets, but eventually they, and their mates of a similar age were priced out. It's not just us FOC's.

Possibly. But the guy I was replying to was suggesting that members who haven’t bought a ticket for ‘several seasons’ have them cancelled. I’m not sure anybody is renewing every year and not buying a single ticket.

I’m not really sure your scenario is that likely either though. Certainty in any great numbers. The only league games where tickets are really hard to come by are United and Liverpool. And I think they always sell out with the criteria at several games attended during the current and previous season.

Believe me bud, if you want two seats sat together it is quite tricky indeed!
Completely take your point about the post you were reply to though.

Re my point, I have a work colleague who is a Newcastle supporter and he has a Citizen membership for exactly the reason I stated. He thinks it’s worthwhile as he lives in Warrington, so I know it happens. As to how widespread, who knows.

I think it's unlimited for us. I might be wrong though.
No you have to attend or transfer your ticket (to a friend/ family) on your list, a minimum of 14 PL games per season.
I know because the club emailed me a few days after the Brentford home game earlier this season to tell me that I hadn't attended that particular game.
I did attend that particular game, and I drove up the A1M and over The Pennines ,after staying overnight near Peterborough, leaving with plenty of time to make sure I got to the match in time.
It turned out that the hand held scanners that are used to allow entry in X and Y entrances were faulty for that particular game, and I eventually received an apology and they said their records would be altered to show I had been at that game.

Yeah thought so. Interesting about the scanners, we have those at Entrance B too but so far no issues with registering my attendance

Yes mate but is that the minimum. Could somebody transfer / list all 19 games??

Yes I believe so, not seen any rules limiting the number of times you can transfer/list
I was under the impression that there was a limit to how many times you could sell on the exchange; you can list as many times as you want, but once it has physically sold x number of times (10 rings a bell), you are no longer allowed to use the exchange. If I’m wrong on this, I stand to be corrected.

I have not seen that limit stated anywhere, but I might be wrong. There are a number (and it might be close to 10) of games they guarantee refunds for even if it doesn’t sell; these are the more attractive games obviously.

I think the limit used to be six when they first brought it in, but obviously that was a disincentive for anyone to list their seat if they’d reached the limit so they scrapped it.

It was a maximum of 6 then 10 (if sold) and then this was added last season:

If a Season Ticket Member places their Season Ticket on the Ticket Exchange for over 50% of home Matches
in the Premier League during the 2023/24 season, the relevant Member’s Season Ticket may not be
automatically renewed for the following season and any requested renewal may be granted or denied by
the Club (acting in its absolute discretion).

As the above was hidden wasn't publicised and on page 34 of the 37 page ST terms and conditions I'm not sure if many new or if it was enforced? As the season before was 10 sales that could have had people unstuck, as you may have sold if 5 times, listed and removed it 5 or not sold it and gone anyway and it would have been over 50%.

For 2024/25 there is no mention, but the full 40 page doc differs from what is overtly on the club site, for example the club website lists games for guaranteed refunds and says 10 days before, the full terms and conditions says this is Cat A games and 7 days before, but does say they discretion to change it. As the full terms were dated Aug 2024 you would think they wouldn't contradict what was already on the site by then.

Thanks for this. So is your interpretation that the 50% rule is still in force? ( I know it’ll be a bit of a guess). Cheers
