South Carolina Firing Squad

I'd heard or read somewhere that firing squads, most likely military, had one rifle loaded with a blank so that any individual could believe he wasn't responsible for killing someone.
That is 100% correct.
A firing squad was usually comprised of 4 or 5 soldiers, and one of the squad would be issued with a rifle that had a blank round, so that they could all think that they had the rifle with the blank round.
And there would be an officer or NCO present, who would deliver the " coup de grace" with a pistol shot to the forehead if it was needed.

Not last night’s.
Three shooters, three bullets.

Having the death penalty didn’t deter him from committing murder in the first place and shooting him won’t deter him although it will, of course, stop him doing it again.
Correct, the death penalty won't deter everybody, but in this case it's more justice than deterrent.

The final moments for these people he bludgeoned to death would have been pretty terrifying and gruesome and it was his choice to do this, so he should pay the maximum consequences for his actions.

I don't believe there is any doubt he committed the crimes he's been found guilty of and putting him away for a life in a prison doesn't seem sufficient for what he did to innocent people.

In this particular instance, the death penalty in my view is correct and justice served.

Exactly.
look at those two cunts that killed Lee rugby.
They should have the same.
Or be starved to death

I might get pelters here but my view is that if you take someones life then you should pay the price with losing your own life.

And if we hang someone who turns out to be innocent then the people responsible should in turn be sentenced to death for taking a life.

This will ensure maximum effort and diligence by police, prosecutors, Judge and jury to get it right.
