The banana idea is very good

it would get attention if thousands showed up

However would people be allowed to bring them in these days?

I would love to see the Frankenstein and dinosaur ones again in SS1

Are you people who do the YouTube channel @wearethesouthstand we need to get out to all YouTube channels as well. Why does someone not start a petition as well and contact Manchester Evening News? Shame the club into making changes like what happened with the disabled parking. There are a lot of unhappy people just now with what is happening with the club off the pitch......
No that’s not our channel that’s big steve

Good point. I’m not sure if they would be allowed in or not.

Stick it in your trouser leg.

On a serious note.

Keep the banana uninflated, roll it up, and tuck it down your jeans next to your waist. The stewards won’t know any different.

I’m sure if any banana protest is organised the club will brief the head of security to brief all the stewards to look out for and to confiscate the inflatable bananas.

Then again, the fan groups could tell the club there is going to be a banana protest during a certain match, and the club can tell the stewards not to confiscate any bananas, and to let the peaceful protest inside the ground continue. I’m sure the club would like to see the level of support for the protest inside the ground.

Either way, unless the club start listening to the fans properly, and start rolling back the way they are treating the fans, there will be protests against the board and dare I say it against Khaldoon in the future.

If there are fan protests before the end of the season, then Khaldoon will have to address that issue in his end of season interview as long as Chris Bailey asks him a question about it, which I doubt Chris Bailey will. All hypothetical I know.

We'll be laughed at and not taken seriously for a serious subject.
Why exactly will it be laughed at?

The bananas at the time were there partly due to how bad the club was on and off the pitch, it was the fans saying we are still here and we are going to enjoy it no matter what because we are loyal. People forget the fans at that time saved this club, the over 30k v Blackpool in Division 3 etc

So now we are saying we are still here and are not prepared to let you do whatever you want without us at least saying something or showing you we still here

And so what if people laugh, who cares, is it not supposed to be fun going to the match without having to worry about the cost, who is sat next to you, if you can and cannot sing or shout.

I mean what are we really asking for, reasonable individual match day prices, tickets sold to actual fans and more season ticket availability in a stadium that is putting in an extra 8000 seats.

tbh if the club would be that bothered to alert security over inflatable bananas then it could be a lost cause already

Although we are supposed to be a club that listens to the fans.

On the flip side it could actually work in the clubs favour. If only say 1000 bananas were waved about, they could argue you had your day and more chose not to bother with the banana, so we will carry on as we are.

Am I the only one who think that if we have a 62000 capacity stadium and only 35000 season tickets we are going to struggle to sell out the other 27000 tickets for most games. The empty seat counters will be in their element.
I hear that argument alot but if seasoncards were closer to Value Gold prices or 2011/12 prices then it would surely persuade many to buy more for their family or stay on.

I've lost track of friends who have given it up due to cost rises.

Richest league and clubs doesn't equate to richest fans. I've come close to knocking it on the head this season and last. Massively regret moving from Value Gold to regular prices.

That’s the spirit Burton. FFS!

Yet you want the club to move the away fans from SSL3.
Will the club laugh at that idea?

There will be protests outside the ground as well.
If there is a banana protest, it will be a clearly visible protest inside the ground. ‘YELLOW BANANAS’.

Any other protest, ie, a more direct protest, will not allowed inside the ground by the club. Remember the protest banners that were removed by the club from SSL2, and then by GMP from SSL1?

United fans are being asked to wear black today as a protest against the Glazers and Scruffy Jim. What’s the point of that? Most United fans, especially the youth and the MIB’s wear black any way, so protesters won’t stand out inside the ground.

Another thing. It really, really, pisses me off when people poo poo and ridicule an idea even when it is being discussed and is in its early stages with nothing confirmed yet. If a person doesn’t want to buy into to the idea, fair enough, that’s their choice, but don’t ridicule the (general) idea straight off. Stay out of the conversation about the idea, as you have no or little interest in it, and you have nothing positive to say about the idea.

I remember posters on here getting slaughtered when they first questioned the treatment of the fans by the club. That included me. Ungrateful bastards, we were told, etc. Now we’re no longer ungrateful bastards, because the vast majority of City fans now feel the same way about the club and how it is treating the fans.

The minority have now become the majority.(the DIRECTORS should be worried about that)

City fan groups have got together and formed an alliance.
Another City Matters Rep is refusing to meet the club.
1894 have had a huge response, in the 1000’s, to a season ticket and match day ticket questionnaire.
Discussions about a planned protest are being held on City fans forums and in private amongst City fans.
Momentum is building.

Burton, fuck off!

If all you can do is take the piss, don’t bother contributing to the thread and the protest discussion.

You’re just acting like a c*nt for the sake of it.
It's a forum for opinions.

I agree with some of yours, disagree with others & am ambivalent to the rest.

I happen to think that black bin liners(flags) held up in a mosaic will be more effective and reflective of the 'black' mood of our fan base than yellow bananas....and easier to get in the ground.

An in stadium demo will be more effective than anything outside unless it's at the players walk in !!

Just my opinion so try not to be such an ignoramus !!
