From UEFA website:
“Qualification for the Champions League will continue to be open and depend on a club's final position in the previous season's domestic league competition combined with each association's position in the association club coefficient ranking.”

I tried to find something about white nets / triangular flags / 22mm grass /,players being older than 12 / Doris doing the banking correctly- nada. Just the above which stipulates league position and league position alone.
Criterion.
Our one criterion is...a club's final position in the previous season's domestic league competition ...combined with...
Our two criteria are...

You still have to be a member of the premier league. That is what will be provided for in the rules. You have to be a member of the premier league in the relevant season in order to be eligible. And then finish top five.

Criteria.

We drop to 5th
The rags up to 14th
Mad to think they could win europa league and qualify for the champions league and we could finish 6th or 7th and end up in europa. It's certainly a possibility. I doubt we'd be taking piss out of there league position then lol.

Yes. Had a very good day, nonetheless. First pint at 9am. Went for a really nice meal after the game. Saw a few old faces. 12 hours from door to door. Yes, had a great day out, shame about the game.
I knew it would be a very early start so gave it a miss this time. Still not fully recovered from Orient!
Take care and whatever the criteria/ criterion let’s hope for a cup win and top 5 finish for cherry on the top

One of the most annoying things about recent soft losses is that we’d have caught Arsenal up. Despite us being at our worst and them supposedly challenging for the league.

That would be bloody wonderful but hard to envisage now.

Plus Europa League winners!

Really?

Does this apply to Europa league and that other shit one :-)

Non top flight teams win cups, not just in England either.

Would they be barred from Europe

What hawhen Wigan won the cup and got relegated, were they allowed in the Europa the following season

We were talking about CL qualification via league placings.

I know but nothing to stop a championship club winning the Europa having qualified as cup winners the year before.

Does it mean they couldn't take their place in the CL?
Millwall qualified for UEFA cup 2004/5 by dint of losing to United in cup final - United already qualified for champ league.
So, theoretically any non-prem team could qualify for champ league by winning the FA cup then Europa Cup; or be losing finalist to a champ league qualifying team then winning Europa cup.

Or: be a non-prem team playing against another non Prem team (but that team wins champ league by dint of winning Europa cup previous season)

So, loads of different criteria!!!!!

"We were better when we were shit" then?

Meanwhile, everyone else knows we are underperforming, knows that football never sleeps and knows that accepting the creeping mediocrity will have us slumbing it down with Utd very quickly.

You and your ilk are of the persuasion that "be grateful for what you've had".

Not me, not the club (thank fuck), not the players and not the majority (i would say) of fans.

You'll be leaping on your moral high horse or some other alpha-forumming bollox in reply but that horse is an also ran.

This club has evolved from being an also ran.

Time to get with the now, Grandad.
I’m not sure we are underperforming.

With the injuries we’ve had, plus key players ageing and becoming less good at football, the comedown after the eight years of high intensity efforts to win 19 trophies that we’ve just been through, I reckon we’re doing well to be where we are and playing as well as we do.

We were starting to slide to this about three years ago. When we were losing players like DSilva, Agüero and Fernandinho and buying the likes of Phillips, Nunes and at times buying nobody to replace someone outgoing, you could tell that the squad was getting thinner and the squad quality was getting worse.

Only thing was, in the treble season, barely anyone got injured from Feb-June and they all played incredibly well. We barely had to rely on the squad because everyone was fit and firing on all cylinders.

Then last season cracks started to appear. Gündoğan had gone, De Bruyne missed half the season, any time Rodri didn’t play we lost, we only won 1 game out of 10 against the 2nd-6th placed teams, only won 8 games out of 18 against the top half, we didn’t finish off Madrid like the season before, limply lost to United in the FA Cup final… all because we were relying on our declining squad more, and the efforts of the previous seasons were catching up with us.

Despite having seasons where we won multiple trophies including two trebles and a quadruple, winning the title last season has to be up there with those achievements because I think our squad was the weakest we’ve had for some time.

We have been weakened further still this season with an unprecedented amount of injuries and players legs going and many coming to the end of their football careers. I think we are performing well and in a good league position, considering I don’t really think we’re a particularly good team anymore.

For me, it’s not the team that’s underperforming, it’s the club underperforming in getting a high quality team together. I think everyone sleepwalked through the 18 months after we won the treble, thinking everything was just going to carry on.

Thankfully, January did show some promising signs of moving forward again as Khusanov and Nico have been our best players of late and they’re young lads who’ve been here five minutes, one doesn’t even speak English yet gets MOTM every week. But we are still miles off being a top side again and a high quality, deep, and big performing squad on multiple fronts again.

I'll tell you this it has been a boring one this year. lfc streaking off, the league is over, there's nothing to watch except the scraps.

Poor season for the PL quality wise.
It hasnt helped that Liverpool have had no injuries and a settled squad. Is it down to luck or just good squad managment from Slot ? I dunno but everyone else has struggled with injuries to key player. Saka, Odegaard, Rodri, any City defender etc It's been a huge factor in them running away with it.

I see more chance of us getting in the champions league via the top 5 than into Europa via the FA cup. Villa and Bournemouth will really fancy their chances. Don’t think we make it to the semi’s. But looking forward to a weekend in Bournemouth
