Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

This doesn't MEAN anything. How can intelligent people who have been in the business world look at this and take it as face value? This is literally a "dont call us, we'll call you" response. Has Kevin Parker never done sales?!

Manchester City has a military like precision. They move potentially 60+ people with masses of equipment around the continent at a moments notice. They have to ability to tell you the percentage of passes received to a 14 year old right back in the Argentianian youth league on his left foot, in around 20 minutes from asking. They can have a full media and communication strategy of a huge story ready and waiting to go within about half a day of the command coming down. They do not need to "wait for further information" for weeks then give an indeterminate amount of time. They just don't give a shit.

Alex. Email Danny Wilson. Ask him for specifics. Ask him exactly WHAT information he's waiting on specifically, ask him why such information doesn't have a date predicted to be received, ask him whether this information is absolutely vital to this meeting and will potentially change outcomes. Ask him why if this information is so vital then it has taken weeks to collate and gather, and what systems are in place to ensure it doesn't take months again.

These people are taking the piss out of you. Why are so many so afraid to deal with them like you would anyone else who is doing that?

"Oh if I'm competent and forceful now then they might not listen to us next time"

They already don't listen to you. What difference does it make? City are a PR club and the fans can potentially make things very difficult for them. And the more they lie down, the closer to the £2500 season tickets we're going to get.
City shouldn’t have offered to firm up the date of the meeting prematurely. Since then there have been delays on the new North Stand roof that could delay the opening of the expanded North Stand and we still haven’t heard the 115/130 legal hearing outcome. This should be clearer in a few weeks.

In the meantime, pressure needs to be kept up on the Club re. ticket pricing.

Just to add further context to this, here is what Danny told me on 27th February.

Hi Alex, thanks for your message. In summary, I called in response to your email in relation to the meeting about Season Tickets. I informed you that we wouldn’t be in a position to confirm a date for the meeting this week as we needed more time internally. I reiterated our commitment to the meeting and that we would be in touch as soon as we were in a position to share a date with you for you to check availability of the wider group. I also said that we would leave time between the meeting and any announcement in relation to 25/26 Season Tickets in case a follow up meeting was needed or requested.

So, I don’t take much faith from the update shared yesterday given it is practically identification. I practically shared as much in the update City Matters posted a week ago.
It was clearly a mistake by City / Danny to offer to firm up the meeting prematurely. I agree you guys have been treated by a lack of respect. That’s said, it was clear that the OSC meeting was swayed by this information and there’s plenty of posters on here who dislike the OSC but swear that Danny is an honest guy.

Hi Halfpenny

Your Branch Sec might welcome you attending a
Meeting orntwo for your Branch. I know that would be welcome in the Branch I run but volunteers are a rare commodity. Anyway, if your Branch Sec was at last night’s meeting they may be able to answer your questions.

Anyway, hot off the press from Sir Kevin

You may be aware that some of the City Matters Reps have decided to boycott any more sub group meetings until the Club confirm a date for the agreed meeting on Season Tickets for next season

A date for this was promised within 7 days of 20th Feb 2025 but has not yet been confirmed

Speaking to Danny Wilson yesterday he advised the following

The club are 100% committed to have the extraordinary meeting, however at this time, they don't have all of the details to bring to a meeting. As soon as they feel they have enough information to give to us, and make the meeting as constructive as possible, they will send out some dates for us to choose from. They are hoping this will be very soon.

After a lengthy discussion at last nights EC meeting The OSC voted unanimously to NOT join the boycott but to continue to press the Club for a date - but also agreed this meeting should only take place when the Club has all the information required

Should there be any City Matters meetings before the date of the meeting is confirmed we will attend

I feel pressing this on individual branches isn't appropriate - it's clear to me from the number of members who were unaware that this was to be discussed, that the absence of advance communication from the top on this stretches across multiple branches, potentially the whole OSC (although I'm not in a position to quantify that).

It's clear that OSC leadership have failed to engage particularly widely across the membership on this matter, given the 'unanimous' decision is clearly not a reflection of feeling among members - this thread and Twitter are a window into that. Accountability ultimately rests with OSC leadership in answering the questions I've posed, and I don't feel Kevin's update does this either.

"it will be X if this happens or Y if that happens"

How are you people this easy to deal with?

The purpose of being an advocate is to fight the corner of your charges. You (not personally you) seem to just take anything that they say uncritically. This isn't advocacy, its sycophancy.

I know I shouldn't, but it reminded me a little of this:

Shame city can’t be honest and just say we are waiting to see how we do in the FA cup/league before deciding whether to jack the prices up or not.
Anyone with half a brain can see this coming.

If everything goes swimmingly they raise prices. If it all goes tits up then they freeze them and say "well done lads, you beat us" while sniggering and patting them on the head.

Some excellent posts from you in this thread. Nearly gave my phone screen a round of applause.

Fair enough, but you can do something about it or you can keep talking on here.

There’s plenty of disgruntled members but I don’t see them dying in a ditch over whether some other folk should attend City Matters sub committees or not

I’ve not been Danny Wilson's biggest fan over the years so there’s nothing guaranteed. Lots of good people speak highly of him though.

Yes I can’t be bothered getting worked up about the non strike of sub committee members. I am up for targeted protests about Blues getting priced out but most Bluemooners go quiet when a protest is mentioned, or start rowing backwards.

I think it would be helpful to know which division we will be playing in next season before confirming prices. That said, a commitment to a price freeze can be sought regardless.

As I said earlier, I'm getting increasingly disturbed by unelected groups like 1894 whipping things up from the sidelines.

I'd just like to make a point here Colin... In one breath you're randomly (and weirdly) linking 1894 to MAGA (not sure what you're getting out of that), then resorting to your own MAGAesq fake news run...

We are an elected body with a membership in the thousands.

Each year we contact our members with a proposed list of organisers who voluntarily run 1894 on behalf of the members. The overwhelming majority voted us in (a clear show that our members are happy with the current leadership). We are a voluntary organisation doing our best and our members respect that.

We absolutely whip things up from the sidelines in the interest of our members. We will continue fighting for things like fairer prices and for fans to be respected. We've had some great wins and we're not going to stop. Not really sorry if that bothers you to be honest. What I also want to clarify is that we (1894) have a good relationship with the OSC. I know Kevin personally. What they do is none of our business, if they've voted against the boycott, it's up to their members to decide whether that is right or wrong, not us in 1894. We are fully engaged in working constructively with all our fan groups to achieve the best deal for our wider fanbase.

I find your random outburst against 1894 a bit strange, in all honesty. I've met you in the past and thought you'd be more aligned with our activism on behalf of City fans.

Surely as City fans this is the one thing we should be standing together on. I am shocked at the OSC's decision.
Smells of self interest in my humble opinion.
If we don’t have solidarity on something as simple as this what hope have we got for anything else. It didn’t seem like too much to ask from the OSC.

In the unlikely event anyone at the club bothers to read a thread like this they must be laughing at the infighting.

Well said mate. OSC appear to be protecting their own self interests here probably around away tickets. Go against the club and those benefits disapear. Awful mate.

This is all a ruse from the club to drop a huge increase in price for Season tickets, they are just waiting for it any minute.

Cheapest adult ticket at Evertons new stadium is £640, City will be looking at this and licking their lips. I will be surprised if there is anything under £700 going.

I will buy your season ticket for the next 2 years if their is not a season ticket under £700.
Their will probably be a small increase as they always like to do but you need to stop chatting shite
