1. In this context a tax pound is a pound received from the taxpayer (the government) them people wot live in that thar London in the form of benefits for example...
2. One type of illegal are people who illegally enter the country.... say on a dinghy over the channel.... it does happen y'know quite high numbers last I heard
3. You spend the tax pound illegally by buying stuff off the back of a lorry, you know stolen things... like bars of chocolate... you know from places like mini-marts. There has been a crime epidemic of late and getting worse. There are even some thieves who walk into mini markets and steal to order... fags, booze and everyfing.

Why is it that some people just cannot, or refuse to see that this government is capable of making mistakes instead of believing that evey thing they do like cutting WFA, increasing Employers NI is always correct?

The politics forum is dead. It’s been left with people that shout the most extreme things and call people names.

There’s no debate on any U.K. politics thread now, just isolated comments based on out of context stuff people find on social media.
 
There seems to be a bit of a split: Reeves has got it all wrong vs Reeves is right, welfare budget must be cut.

1. Benefits like Pensions, disability allowance, universal healthcare etc. Benefits that millions of people receive and need to live on. All good stuff.
2. Asylum seekers are not illegal. This is a fact. You know what a fact is don’t you? Embrace them and their truth will set you free.
3. My local Tesco Express and Spar are really a front for stolen goods to serve illegal immigrants? Shocking news. Can’t be much of a customer base though.

2. Not all are asylum seekers and there legal ways to get to safety... the answer is not always the UK.

3. No one has said every penny of benefit the illegal immigrants get is spent that way.... just a large proportion of it... you know paying the scum that got them here as well as buying stolen goods. And you're right it is not much of aa "customer" (hahaha) base , then again it doesn't need to be!

You really do need to lift your eyes from the Morning Star and see what's happening around you.

1. I was bored.
2. Travelling by dinghy across the channel to seek asylum is not illegal, which why those that arrive here safely are not arrested and charged.
3. You did say that. You have now downgraded it to ‘large proportion’ which is still a fact free assertion. I am still unsure how an illegal immigrant receives any benefit without documentation and is not arrested when they try, but I guess reality flew the nest a while back.

you're not always polite and courteous though as we see here:

I still don't consider the comparisons you make between the UK, a country with many centuries of history and evolution and AD, a country that has effectively been in existence for a few decades.

I do agree that the UK is in a mess however.

I'll leave it at that for now as my connectivity is somewhat dodgy.

Point 2 the illegal migration act July 2023 made it illegal to arrive in UK by a small boat and removed the right for people arriving this way to claim asylum.

Illegal immigrants are Illegal cos they are not here legall.

They've put nowt in and get lots out....accommodation,food,liquid,NHS,subsistence etc etc.

In what world is that correct.

If people are happy for their grandchildrens futures to be blighted by people who shouldn't be here, milking the benefits system without contributing, they must of lost all sense of reason......but its not for me !!

This may reflect the different demographic breakdowns of small boat arrivals, and their different protection needs.’

The Tories towards the end were passing what was in effect fantasy legislation for a good headline for 24 hours but in practical terms it made no impact. For the first six months of 2024 there were a record number of channel crossings and the majority ended up in the asylum system. And that was with the Tories still in power.

If they are illegal they cannot claim benefits or accommodation or whatever. Yelling nonsense in a loud voice doesn’t make something true. Nor the use of double exclamation marks.

No one is shouting in a loud voice.

When these people land in the UK without any identification papers.... what happens to them? Do we deport them immediately? No.
Do we house and feed them? Yes. Where does this money come from? The taxpayer.
Do we give them an allowance to "survive" on? Yes. This money too comes from the British taxpayer.

These are your tax pounds.

If they are genuine asylum seekers why did they not seek asylum in France or the first "safe" country they entered?
