Baleba

I'd be very surprised if we went anywhere near this to be honest.

If we did sign Wirtz, that's £100m+ and I don't see us signing two £100m plus players in the same window, especially when we have other needs such as full back and potentially a goalkeeper to find aswell.

No one is gonna pay £100m for him imo. No club outside the PL will be willing to spend that much on him. Tottenham and United aren’t in the race. Chelsea are stacked with Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, Ugochukwu, Santos and potentially Essugo and Amogou coming in the summer who plays the same position. Arsenal seem to be signing Zubimendi and will need to sign 2-3 attackers, so they won’t afford him. Same thing with Liverpool who needs a RB, CB, LB and probably a 1 or 2 attackers. I think we would be the only realistic option, can’t see a bidding war. I’m guessing we’d get him for around £90m

I'd be more surprised if we signed Wirtz, but yes we won't do both.

I see Wharton first

My friend is a Brighton season ticket holder and I was trying to guage how good is he from a person that watches him every week and also compared to Caicedo. Anyway his assessment is that Baleba is greatly improved this season and key attributes are huge energy levels and stamina, first touch has also improved, however he did qualify this by saying both him and Caicedo look good in a Brighton system. I suppose this isn't anything new from TV footage

I can see the argument to why Wirtz might go elsewhere as opposed to here. But with that 100+m we would have had ready for him I just can’t see spending that on Baleba. Bruno G yes on the other hand.

But I’ll be happy to be wrong if means we get a great player.

Let's see how anyone would fare in the wild West that is City's midfield pmsl

Never really saw it with Caicedo however Baleba is incredible

Going to be interesting to see what teams might be in for him come the summer

We’d be better off going for Camara at Monaco. 2 good seasons in Ligue 1, similar defensively but much better offensively.

French clubs are skint, much better deals to be had. It only takes 1 good season in PL for them to go from a 20mil player to a 100mil player. Brighton will want Caicedo money.

Im not sure if City will buy many PL players really.. they will all be 100m+ and I dont think they think its value for money really, the exception will be home grown opportunities and contracts running out where they feel they can do an easy, smooth deal. Im not sure they want to deal with Brighton, Newcastle etc especially after the Cucu saga etc.
Jack, Philips etc probably burnt them out some, Stones, Walker has been exceptional though, the problem is they are all 100m now.

Thought Diego Gomez was far superior to him in that double pivot to be honest, certainly on the defensive side of the game
He is a funny one, we spent all window pissing around for a defensive mid while brighton picked him up for peanuts before the window even opened. Given the amount of ex barca Spanish players at inter miami youd think we would have known about him. Brighton operate really well in the market.
