Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

One thing that might benefit us in the long run is that whoever takes over the reins will not be taking over from peak Guardiola.

Imagine we'd won the league for the 5th time on the trot. Pep calls it a day.

Alonso, Iraola or whoever takes over is on a hiding to nothing.

The speed by which fellow blues are willing to discard our greatest ever manager after one poor season when the problems on the pitch are so clearly caveated by personnel and injuries is remarkable to me. I guarantee Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea want him gone as well, and their reasons are obvious, but I don't know why a portion of our fanbase agree with them.
Sacking Pep would be the sort of thing Swales would do.

In other words a short sighted idiotic decision.

Pep needs to be given next season, if there's no improvement then we can have the discussion.

Think we'll be great next season, but Pep isn't on form this season.

Personally, I can't understand his obsession with Lewis. Still, it's good that he could finally see that Kevin, Phil and Bernardo are poor. We don't have many options currently, but going forward with Haaland, Marmoush, Savinho and Doku is the right choice. They might be inconsistent but at least they can run, the latter three can dribble too.

If there's no improvement by October, there won't be any need for discussion...

The club won't sack him whatever happens.
Pep won't stay if he doesn't think he can do the job anymore, or if he thinks he's lost the dressing room.

Either way, next season will be his last at City and he'll want to go gloriously. Just sit back and enjoy it.

i'm confused why do you think next season will be his last it sounds like no matter what he leaves next season or have i missed read it

Mamoush will be good but only if we play to his strengths but if we stifle him then he will be another grealish who tbh has never been given a chance to do what he did at Villa .
he's already beaten his goal tally from grealish first season so not doing to badly but agree with your point he feels better suited to that role that alvarez was playing last season when paired with haaland

We beat Chelsea and Newcastle, spurs away too recently. all these were crucial as we had we lost or draw these we would be in awful situation now in the league.

but all the games vs dippers, rags, Arsenal and all the CL games + Carabao exit were mostly awful experiences. from 10 CL games this season we only beat Brugge, Bratislava and Prague that is fucking poor. Brugge was the most decent side of those we beat and Aston Villa just ripped them apart in two legged last 16 tie.
wee also lost to Brighton, Bournemouth, Villa in the league, the 4-0 loss to Spurs at home bloody hell. not beating Dyche's Everton at home, throwing away 2-0 lead vs Brentford. being ahead twice vs Brighton just yesterday still not win, the Forest loss as well when it was a 6 pointer.
some of collapses were brutal like 2-1 vs Real at home losing to 2-3.
Arsnal 5-1 loss, vs PSG 2-0 up losing 4-2. vs rags 1-0 up at home gifting Amorim all 3 points.

many, many, many very poor results overall. and sadly we still have a few coming.

other than that all good.:)
Maybe we are becoming more and more entitled with each passing week. Without realising it, we have become what we hate most. Pep is the greatest manager this country has seen, and I have no doubts about his ability to put things right.

Every time we've had a poor run of form or God forbid, not won the league, people tend to reach for he same cliches around Pep. There isn't a single better manager or coach on the planet, and there isn't a single better person to be rebuilding the team that he built than him.

Whilst it's true that he's the best manager we've had and the best manager of the premier league era the way the team are playing currently doesn't give me the feeling he'll turn this around even with a huge summer spend.

We are more of a rabble than we were under late Pellegrini, never mind any teams Mancini put out.

Horton, Keegan and the extremely dull Pearce at least showed some semblance of organisation.
Despite being 5th in a year when the traditional teams are pretty shite I'd say the comedy defending is Ballesque.

Is it too late to put in a bid for Dan Burns? ;-)

three-quarters of the season gone, still vulnerable (wide-open) to the simplest move in football. Many times. The technical aspects of "pressing" has improved more than any other tactic, except for City, the humiliation against RM a case in point, on another day it could have been much worse. "Tackling? what's that?" ..I laughed at the time..:(

If we win the PL next season, he'll quit while he's top dog again, just like Ferguson did.

If it's a decent season, (top four, cup semi, balanced rebuilt team etc) I can see him handing the reins to his successor.

Mid-table isn't Pep World. If things really go sideways, he'll pack up mid season.

His whole demeanour has changed this season, and I think he's had enough of coaching for a while.

He'll almost certainly have already told the club what he plans to do, and they'll already have the matter in hand. If they've not, we're in trouble!

Either way; I'll be absolutely amazed if he's still working anywhere at the start of 26/27 tbh.
