Atmosphere 2024/25

Is it just down to that though or was a lot of it down to Newcastle stamping their authority on the game from the off and Liverpool fans not being up for it as a result? Whether we like it or not, many English atmospheres are governed by what's going on on the pitch and I think this is especially true for domestic matches at Wembley. Liverpool fans were wanking off about the atmosphere when they played us in the 2022 FA Cup semi-final but we gifted them the game with our starting line-up. They were 2-0 up after a little over 15 minutes and 3 up at half-time so it's no surprise that their end was jumping but if the roles were reversed we wouldn't have heard a peep from the fuckers.
They shit themselves when we pulled it back to 3 - 2 right near the end.

Liverpool fans all over twitter bemoaning their pathetic end yesterday, a complete tourist takeover, literally hardly any scousers, no one knew the songs, apparently their worst ever end, we are not alone
Talking of Liverpool, I'll make one bold prediction, based on something I witnessed in Madrid in 2019.

To cut a long story short, I happened to be there on the same day as the CL Final between Liverpool and Tottenham.

The contrast was stark, with Tottenham selling their allocation, and probably having another 3,000 milling around for the atmosphere and the faint chance of sourcing a spare ticket.
They were all wearing Panama Hats to match their white cotton polo shirts, and blue shorts, and whilst somebody had obviously made a small fortune, they also looked impressively stylish.

As for Liverpool, they probably outnumbered Tottenham 10-1 and it felt like 100,000 Egyptians all supporting one player in particular.

Remember that if Marmoush keeps improving and our Egyptian support becomes more noticeable.

Already seen some dressed up as King Tuts in a recent game, and an old bloke attempting to “walk like an Egyptian” in the North Stand on Saturday as Marmoush trawled around the pitch after being substituted.

Was quite funny to be fair.

I don’t agree. Spurs can fill one home end, Arsenal, villa, Chelsea and plenty of smaller clubs have two singing ends as well.

Just look how many we have standing for visits to Wembley

We are hemorrhaging local fans mate, the ones we have left are mainly older people.

OK no worries.

If we start building enthusiasm now, within a few years two signing ends may well be doable. Villa and Arsenal's support was abysmal for donkeys but they've improved in recent years. The rags are usually shite but made a decent effort in midweek.

We need better engagement between the Directors / Club management and fans for starters. Some of our fans have thrown their toys out of the pram after Saturday's end to end match too. growing in up in Stretford, through many tough years on the pitch, I thought Saturday was a cracking game.

What have the club done ??

Our most successful era in our history and fans are alienated, disenfranchised and leaving in droves.

Who is responsible for this ineptitude.

Surely the Sheikh and Khaldoon can't be happy about this following their historical praise of our fan base and its loyalty.

Astonishing ineptitude !!

Really is the same at most PL clubs now though, I echo most of the matchday experience people are saying about Etihad as I do about Olympic Stadium atmosphere, ticket and travel costs far too high, more and more tourists, too many games all over the place, most fans are glued to their phones nowadays or even worse filming the fu*ckin match.

Everton will go the same way when they move stadium.

Agree in part....but why "Jonny Stones" ??

Why not "Sha la la la Summerbee" ??
Sha la la summerbee has mainly died out not many knows the full words.. he came to City from swindon town …

Colin Bell wasn’t around the ground from the late 70s til when he came back as a coach

People have sang colin the king for 50 years when he’s not been in the ground

It shouldn't be about where we look best for the camera's! It should be about where we can create the best atmosphere for our players.

It's not like they ever film the south stand anyway. When Bernardo scored vs Madrid and south stand went bedlam, the cameras decided to zoom in on some tourists in CB1 who were motionless holding up their phones to film!

Of course it matters. It will make the fans look less passionate, lead to further ridicule and worsen the atmosphere for the players if the more vocal/vociferous fans move to the back of the stand. The players want fans to engage with, not score a winner and run off celebrating with a load of fans half-arsed celebrating.

Tim I applaud your enthusiasm but soriano decides the prices and what steps has he tried to build better engagement with the fans in the last decade ?

You can only have two way dialogue if both sides want to talk

City could chose to be the unique club of difference, as we have been on many occasions in our long history.

We could & should be the shining example to global football.

The fact that the club has turned its back on its own fans and thus far not engaged in dialogue with elected supporters is a shocking indictment of how detached they've become from the club's core .

Utterly dispiriting !!

I’m saying that’s what’s needed. I don’t reckon that will happen.

FWIW, in a different working life I was a sales / business development director. I would have thought City would reignite prestigious brands like the Junior Blues to help to expand our fan base and address top heavy demographics. They are clearly not interested and instead we’ve got cartoons from New York etc.

No excuse for that nonsense.

They weren't singing in support of an injured legend, they'd nothing else to sing.

As for my support, you are ignorant of it, but its been unswerving since 1958 as a 6 year old home, away & abroad !!
