Russian invasion of Ukraine

russian war correspondents are now reporting that a Ukrainian mechanized platoon-level attack was repelled in Belgorod Oblast and that stabilization efforts are underway.
Translated from Russian to English...this says....
"We have evacuated 3 villages already....They are here"

Slava Ukraini.

Outside the US embassy in Moscow,The large letters ZVO.....have now been replaced with "We are together"

Heroyam Slava.

So all that has been agreed is for the Ukraine to stop pounding Russian oil depots and for EVERYBODY to stop giving military aid and data to the Ukraine for 30 days?

The ART OF THE DEAL my arse.

At least we know for definite Trump is a Russian asset. Cannot be relied on and the Allies need to take the lead. The USA is dead as a friendly nation from this point onwards...

Edit: My bad, and for a Hockey match between the US and Russia. They can call it the "Home Nations"!

Two hours after the announcements, Russian ballistic missiles and drones struck Ukrainian energy infrastructure targets across the country, as well as in the city of Slovyansk in Donetsk Oblast, leaving half the city without electricity

Russia broke the ceasefire within 2 hours

Yep, calling Trump's bluff. :) And no doubt it will work.

The US recognising a territory Russia already control as a bid to end the conflict seems overly optimistic. Three years of war, thousands dead and they get the US and others recognising Crimea as Russian and maybe some bits of Ukraine which have been disputed over since 2014?

Nothing sort of dismantling Ukraine as a viable independent state is satisfying Putin. Offering Putin what he already has and leaving Ukraine free to join the EU and prosper as Poland and others have done and with a European peace keeping force on Russia’s borders is not going to fly unless I’m missing something here.
I think the Russians were quite happy for the Ukrainians to join in EU as per the 2022 peace treaty that Boris Johnson and Biden scuppered.
NATO was the big no no as far as the Russians were concerned.
Things could have changed now.

Recruited by Trumps first wife Ivana he’s a Russian asset. “Trump said today “he had to get Ukraine to do the right thing”
I mean we have to get Russia to do the right thing and take its troops home don’t we? Trump is a demented old fool.

So much for a ceasefie...
WITHIN 2 FUCKING HOURS
Putin’s forces conducted an airstrike on the energy infrastructure of Slovyansk, a city of 100,000 people in the Donetsk region, according to local reports, leaving part of the city without electricity.

No, NATO was never the issue, it was a convenient excuse. Ukraine was never going to get NATO membership and everyone knew it. EU membership was, and is, the bigger concern for Putin and Russia. Bad enough that former Soviet Bloc countries have prospered, but Ukraine is a step too far.

There was no peace treaty in 2022. Neither Johnson nor Biden could scupper a deal if the Ukrainians wanted the deal. You cannot make a country fight and die if it hasn’t the appetite for it. When the West withdrew from Afghanistan, the Afghan military collapsed within a week against the Taliban. They didn’t have the appetite for the conflict.

A nation and its people that have held out for three years against a much larger force deserves respect, not this lazy canard that the West ‘made them fight on.’

It is also dumb. What is the Russian strategy here? Makes more sense for Russia to present ceasefire terms that Ukraine will find impossible to swallow and make them break or void the ceasefire and cause Trump to have a toddler tantrum. Instead they attack energy infrastructure, make Trump look a prize dick and allow Ukraine to say they are doing everything they can for peace, but you can’t trust the Russians. Oh, and please send more weapons.

This last airstrike isn’t going to move the dial on the war by even a fraction so why bother?
