We definitely can, but I don’t think we should.

He’s a class act but he can’t put 5 successive games together. It’s unsustainable.
he is going to see out his contract ,he holds all the cards as always , maybe not a bad thing as we cant be loosing 8 or 9 players, in one window ,as some have suggested

Just seen this on Facebook. Wow, I knew he was made of glass but this is ridiculous. Sorry John, you are a wonderful footballer but you are a burden on the squad and you have to go,

John Stones injuries since joining Man City:

17/18: 77 days
18/19: 67 days
19/20: 70 days
20/21: 23 days
22/23: 59 days
23/24: 53 days
24/25: 70+ days

That’s over a year out due to injuries since joining City

Even if thats true he was fundamental to winning 6PL and a treble. It does not matter if out of 8 seasons he had 1 out.

Just thought I would post this in here (just in case Johnny Boulders reads this forum !! )
My grandson ( he plays u7s) had his photo taken with him on Saturday morning - JB was there to watch his son play in a different game at the same venue , they play there every week.
My son spotted him and as it was well before the games were due to start he asked JB if he wouldn't mind having his picture taken, my son said he was very accommodating/friendly. My grandson was totally in awe and hardly said a word lol

Thank you JB, you made a young lad (and his dad) very happy !!!

We need to be realistic with JS - he isnt leaving this summer as who would take him for a fee? Lets use his experience and class but dont overwork him. Aim for him to play 20 league games and the CL knock outs. Loads of rest. Like Spurs did with Ledley King - accept his injuries and focus his time. Experience will be important.

I really like and appreciate you @Tier2Blue ;-) :-)

Why does he get to play 20 league games and CL knock outs. We are just going to drop Khusanov when Stones is fit so we can play him, that isn't fair is it.

Difference with Ledley King was that they knew what the injury was. Stones has several different ones a season.

I remember posters here aggressively calling for Vinny to be moved on, can't believe John has had more time on the sidelines but seems to have more credit than Vinny, everyone is sticking their neck out for him, there are even posts suggesting we keep him because of his "his experience and football knowledge", what good is this knowledge if it can't be applied to the game directly? Is Stones now some sort of Obi Wan Kenobi figure? Is this knowledge going to be applied from the sick bed like some sort of war time general on his sick bed? It's football for Christ sake! We are not laying siege on Carthage.

Fair point but the aim being for JS to play about 50% of the season as selected and accept he can’t play more than that. Think players will accept he will likely play the biggest games as frankly when fit he is about our best player. He has done it. Loads of games for AK to play next season and the year after when I imagine Stones will be in America or Saudi. We need to retain some experience and stones also ticks the homegrown box.

I hate this "experience", what good has it done this year?

I think the entire squad needs a clean break and refresh, holding onto what a player can be is arguably why we are here. We cant go another season thinking the same.

Anyone heard how John Boy is doing? I miss his skilful play and his contribution to our team. :-) ;-)
He was injured exactly a month ago today. The timescale was 10-12 weeks, so we’re unlikely to see him again before May.

Hopefully this enforced extended rest will help sort his foot issues out too.

One can but dream!

Well we aren’t and have already brought in 5 new players, doesn’t mean we can or even want every single older player in one go window. Some will go some won’t. Which ones go or stay is as much up to the players as it is the club. And yes we need to keep some experience so we will.Think Stones could well be one that stays.

We have the club World Cup so pre season and building a squad is going to be more difficult this summer than ever. The idea you can just bin an entire squad off and start again is naive at best. The best squads are balanced with young, experienced and prime players. There will be enough turnover to give us the refresh we need.

What we have now though is a squad of youngsters, prime, past it and crocks.

So something has to give. You can't add more prime players without cutting loose.

The best squad is one that has players who are available first of all. Everything else comes after.

Funny, you are.
