North Stand Construction Discussion

Has this CGI been posted before?

It was in one of the Open Doors email attachments I received. I’ve only just noticed it when I was going through the emails for tomorrow.

I've not seen it before.

Looks an earlier version with more of a concept and less detail than the PA ones.

Do we know what will be shown on the big ("massive") screens? Will it be just adverts and stuff or will it be match highlights, interviews etc? I'm not sure where the viewing area is designed to be (other than the fact they will be so big you probably don't want to be right up close to them.

There are very detailed conditions of what can be shown, how.much movement, contrast and light it can emit.

It has been summarised in the thread previously, will try dig up as I honestly can't remember the detail of it. I think from memory moving images i.e videos were allowed on the two screens up to a point in the evening, but the third was stills only, and up to a set brightness.

The joints in the fins are offset, but regular.

Think this was discussed previously in that it would make it look better overall if they’re offset?

The fact the joints are included in the CGI suggests it’s clearly an issue that’s been given consideration?

You are right.

The sails are also noticeably deeper.

Agree, definitely shows that has been a conscious consideration, and they (at least at some) point had similar thoughts, that it is something that would make a difference. Also partly suggests I wasn't just talking shite for the fuck of it, and the devil really is in the detail.

I think that wouldn't have come through to the final product myself, if I'm being honest. Hopefully pleasantly surprised.

All based on he assumption this is an older image, of course.

You know far more about this than me so I wouldn’t accuse you of talking shite for the sake of it!

From a quick look I posted this back when planning permission was given for the screens. The planning reference number is in there if you need more info.

That's the one, thanks for looking it up. My post below it in more layman terms as well, both should answer the poster's question.

From the picture I posted the other day. Enlarged. This might answer part of your question/s?

Not sure if the terracing is just sat in the steel brackets, or if it's fixed to the steel brackets? I can't see any fixing bolts on the steel brackets.

Probably isn’t fixed to allow for expansion/contraction with air temperature fluctuations

Coatigan just reminded me via PM. Thanks.

I'm on the Open Doors event tomorrow at the Etihad, North stand.

There is no onsite tour sadly, but understandable, as it's a very busy construction site, as you all know. However, there is a viewing platform, so I will get some pictures from that vantage point, and I will also do a construction picture roundup.

There is a Q&A session as part of the event, so if you have any questions at all please post them in the thread today. I will write the questions down and pass them on to the (SISK) person doing the Q&A.

Please keep the questions about the construction of the North stand expansion.

Thanks.
Are you there at 11am? if so i will see you there
