What? Are you saying Invisible Touch or I Can't Dance aren't as good as Supper's Ready or Firth of Fifth?Genesis

I love momentary lapse of reason , fantastic albumThe exit of Waters and Gabriel from Pink Floyd/Genesis turned both acts into "Dad rock" tribute bands.
Fish = Marillion Mk1 = Fish.Would Fish, I assume that’s who you mean, be classed as an original member? The band had made recordings before he had to audition for the leading role.
Led Zep have my eternal respect for doing this when Bohnam passed away. The Who
My fave band ever........but Keith Moon was not replacable.
Went from one of the best live performance bands to, well, a steady live band.
A shame, but should have called it a day when Moon died.
Now you're getting technical :)Would Fish, I assume that’s who you mean, be classed as an original member? The band had made recordings before he had to audition for the leading role.
Just for you....The Who

Since Entwhistle died too, a bit embarrassing, a pale shadow of a once brilliant rock band.
Like a lot of the great bands from long ago their aged longevity is diminshing their past brilliance.
just my opinion though, if you enjoy guys in their 70s/80s trying to rock, good for you.
New order. Once hook had left that was it. As much as he is coming across as a bit of pineapple these days the bloke was a great bass guitarist and had that stage presence.
As a Genesis fan, I can’t agree that they got worse when Gabriel left. They became one of the biggest and best bands in the World. They may have been a turn off for the early prog/Gabriel fans, but no way did they become worse. Anyone thinking along those lines needs to listen to ‘Seconds Out’I agree but the OP was asking if for bands that got worse so i had to be careful with my wordage.
Both bands became more modern when the leads left and were in some respects, far more listenable.
Pink Floyd became the David Gilmour band. I find AMLOR and the Div Bell more enjoyable and listenable than everything before it save DSOTM and WYWH. One could argue the Animals and The wall were Waters albums in reality.
Genesis became the Phil Collins band after Gabriel left. Same thing as above happened. TLLDOB is a great epic but not something one can chew through in bits. Invisible touch is much more accessible and has some great pop tracks on it.
I think you’re missing my point. Fish himself replaced the original singer, and co-founder, of the band so he can’t be an original member.Fish = Marillion Mk1 = Fish.
Marillion - Fish = Something else.
Fish was absolutely pivotal to everything Marillion were at the time.
Another band who changed into a dad-rock tribute band once the lead member left.
Ah, yea, sorry.I think you’re missing my point. Fish himself replaced the original singer, and co-founder, of the band so he can’t be an original member.
Do you mean, "Tory" Chimes?Topper Headon - The Clash
100 percent agree with all of this. Face Dances was a decent record, but it wasn’t a Who record. Same with the next one.The Who
