Club World Cup - Summer 2025

I have no interest in this Mickey Mouse tournament, yet another fundraising Fifa pantomime.
So if City got to the final, you'd still have no interest?

Some estimates suggest the winning club in the 32-team tournament could take home as much as $100m (£77.5m); this would be equivalent to winning the Uefa Champions League, but after playing only seven matches.

It is one player these days and maybe wages for one season if lucky, but could ruin 3 or 4 player for the season after, like Euro 2024 did.

Agreed …

We should start playing like crap and ensure we don’t qualify for any European comps. Also, by playing shit, no players will get picked for pointless internationals.

Let’s play the kids for the CWC group games and sneak out of the tournament early.

Then, play 50/50 between kids and first eleven in next seasons PL, with lots of rotation and use all 5 subs early in the second half of games.

This will give all our best players approx. 12 months off and we can return for 26/27 season with a bang and go for the lot.

Not interested in this competition at all, apart to say it’s a competition too many for the players health and welfare !!!

A Glorified over the top and unnecessary set of Pre - season friendly’s with lots of Prize Money,Money!!!

Rather watch the England cricket team at that time year.

Isnt that better than pre season friendlies without lots of prize money ?

Think winning this amount of money is going to certainly make teams play there best players in this tournament

Yes, the only issue with that is by the time it starts some players may have left and their replacements might pt not of arrived. So we might be a way off our strongest team.

I think this is more about what the tournament will become rather than what it is now.

I do think it will end up being quite a prestigious trophy in 10-15 years time. Younger people will be engaged with it from all over the world, similar to the champions league but with teams from their regions actively involved.

The money men at clubs will be taking it seriously due to the potential earnings.

It all depends on what the footballers themselves think of it. Without a doubt bigger squads will be needed to cope with games all year round, but is that so difficult to deal with?

I personally enjoyed winning the CWC the other year and I think having our name on the trophy as one of the first winners will in the long term be viewed quite well.

We need to play a team with fairly fresh players eg

Ortega

Rico Vitor Akanji ( if fit) K Braithwaite

Rodri Nico O James Mc

Oscar Mubama Echeverri

Subs include Nathan Jacob W Simpson- Pusey plus other youngsters

This team could/ should be good enough? While resting some big names and selling others?
A bit more interesting now the money has been mentioned

£13m a game if you go all the way.

Ticket prices are in the hundreds of dollars

Haaland and all the big hitter will play because of this.

It would be incredibly poor marketing from the club if you have 100k in the stadium paying $100s of dollars to see Haaland and co and they don't play. That and the inevitable the contract clauses enforcing they play.

I don't think De Bruyne can play unless he signs a new deal as the tournament continues into July and his deal ends June.

I don't think we will see Ederson either.

I’m sure I’ve read that short term contracts can be signed to enable those out of contract to play in the tournament if they and the club so wish.
