Think there was a Friday night home game against Tranmere early the following season too. 1-1 draw and Horlock scoring IIRC1-0 win at home to Ipswich, first match of the 96/97 season, alan ball's last home game in charge.

Was Darlington in the cup also a Friday night?Yeah I'd forgotten all about the Arsenal Cup Tie (I was in Germany) but I definitely attended the Halifax Cup Tie in 98-99
There was also a 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield and the Birmingham game you mentioned, plus the earlier defeat to Chelsea in 83-84
I'm sure there were others, but none immediately spring to mind
I'm on an early the friday, finish and out by 2pm,in work 6am the satdi morning with a chronic hangover,unbeautiful.Fantastic. Friday night - on the bevvy, watch the lads, lie in Saturday. Beautiful
Yes, we played Gillingham next morning (Ali B backheel to Goater) and night before Millwall beat Wolves so we were up.Was Darlington in the cup also a Friday night?
I think we might have got promoted on a Friday night too under keegan when someone lost that sent us up but memory is a bit sketchy on that.
I must have blanked that one from my memory! There was also the infamous 0-0 away at Norwich at the end of 96/97 season when we had to manoeuvre around IRA bomb hoaxes closing M-ways, that was fun.Think there was a Friday night home game against Tranmere early the following season too. 1-1 draw and Horlock scoring IIRC
Darlington Away was definitely on a Friday night (my only ever trip to Feethams) but the replay was midweek. Was Darlington in the cup also a Friday night?

We’d played Ipswich on the Monday / Tuesday too IIRC.I must have blanked that one from my memory! There was also the infamous 0-0 away at Norwich at the end of 96/97 season when we had to manoeuvre around IRA bomb hoaxes closing M-ways, that was fun.
As it happens, I won’t be able to make this one now due to being at a gig the same night but give me a Friday night match over a Monday night every time. Start of the weekend for most fans rather than the start of the working or school week. Sky have been doing Friday night PL games for years now and most teams have had more than us. Also, at least it’s not someone like Bournemouth or one of the London clubs where the visiting fans won’t be able to get the train home.Just listed my season ticket on the exchange for a guaranteed refund. Would be good if another 30,000 did the same. Fuck Friday night football
Yeah, it was the Tuesday. I went to both. We’d played Ipswich on the Monday / Tuesday too IIRC.
Neither of them are football nights to be fair. I'd be listing if it was a Monday too.As it happens, I won’t be able to make this one now due to being at a gig the same night but give me a Friday night match over a Monday night every time. Fair enough - each to their own and all that. I’ve had some great times watching City on Friday nights, both home and awayNeither of them are football nights to be fair. I'd be listing if it was a Monday too.
Me too when I was younger. I can remember doing Norwich and Fulham away as well as others on a Friday night back in the day. It's not enjoyable enough to warrant it now though.Fair enough - each to their own and all that. I’ve had some great times watching City on Friday nights, both home and away
I think we played at home the day after Wolves lost at Millwall. The trip to Gillingham was the following weekend.Yes, we played Gillingham next morning (Ali B backheel to Goater) and night before Millwall beat Wolves so we were up.
