Yeah I'd forgotten all about the Arsenal Cup Tie (I was in Germany) but I definitely attended the Halifax Cup Tie in 98-99

There was also a 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield and the Birmingham game you mentioned, plus the earlier defeat to Chelsea in 83-84

I'm sure there were others, but none immediately spring to mind

I think we might have got promoted on a Friday night too under keegan when someone lost that sent us up but memory is a bit sketchy on that.

Yes, we played Gillingham next morning (Ali B backheel to Goater) and night before Millwall beat Wolves so we were up.

I must have blanked that one from my memory! There was also the infamous 0-0 away at Norwich at the end of 96/97 season when we had to manoeuvre around IRA bomb hoaxes closing M-ways, that was fun.

Darlington Away was definitely on a Friday night (my only ever trip to Feethams) but the replay was midweek.

You're right about being promoted without actually playing. It might have even been one of those strange scenarios where Wolves were the only team that could catch us, but then lost virtually all their remaining fixtures and ultimately blew their own promotion chances.

The end of season run in could turn into a right damp squib.

If we lose at weekend that will be bad enough but if we win, then 4 of our last 5 league games are likely to be shunted to midweek evening ko's.

The other is Palace at the awful 12:30 time.

If we go out of the Cup our games could still be affected if Villa and Bournemouth progress.

As it happens, I won’t be able to make this one now due to being at a gig the same night but give me a Friday night match over a Monday night every time. Start of the weekend for most fans rather than the start of the working or school week. Sky have been doing Friday night PL games for years now and most teams have had more than us. Also, at least it’s not someone like Bournemouth or one of the London clubs where the visiting fans won’t be able to get the train home.

Me too when I was younger. I can remember doing Norwich and Fulham away as well as others on a Friday night back in the day. It's not enjoyable enough to warrant it now though.

I think we played at home the day after Wolves lost at Millwall. The trip to Gillingham was the following weekend.
