They were just constantly knocking hopeful balls into the box and Forest had 5/6 players waiting to clear it. And Hojlund was like a baby trying to stand up on a bouncy castle. Maguire won 3 headers when he came on, which was more than Hojlund would have got in 4 games.

When you play against a team set up to defend like that, the worst thing you could do is just keep crossing it in. That's what they want you to do. They are set up for that.

Going back years, when Pep was met with the same predicament, he would have Mahrez or Stirling take it right to the byline, get behind them and cut the ball back for Silva, De Bruyne to get a tap in.

That is how you beat a team set up to defend their box.
The Forest players made some very good blocks.

Garnashers makes the wrong choice every single time. When Dorgu was on the overlap, he cut inside and shot into traffic. When he was double marked, he tried to take it down the line. When there was no one in the box, he crossed it.

You can't coach a football brain into someone. It's instinctive. I think he's thick as pigshit.
He’s a rag.

The two go together.

...but he's still one of their best players

One thing that struck me last night was the Maguire substitution. We've been told all season that Amorim hasn't got the players there to play his system and the last thing he's prepared to do is move away from this system. Why then, was he prepared to move away from it last night when deciding to throw Harry fucking Maguire up front in search of a goal?
He was just doing it the utd way. If you need a goal stick the big lad upfront and lump it to him. Every manager including Ferguson the same tactic

This is why Haaland missing in the semi final might be a blessing in disguise (clutching at straws, I know)
If we have a fluid front line trying to draw their centre half's out of position it might be the way forward in getting in behind them

Brilliant take on Birtles.

Don’t think Forest final position will have any affect on our final place, they’ll finish above us anyway ….
Well, if we can win tonight, we'll only be six points behind Forest again ..... and there are about eight or nine games left .... we HAVE 'bridged' gaps like that before, albeit with better a better team, and better consistency.
