Same reason with Savinho. Give them proper overlapping full backs and they will be better. It’s always 1vs2 for them. They get no help since our central midfielders refuse to attack anyways and also because our striker never comes near post like Aguero did.

All down to the manager pal.
The players will do what the manager tells them to do.
Or they are dropped/substituted,,

As for near post runs.,..that's the job of a smaller ,nimble striker like Andy Cole,Peter Beardsley, Gary lineakerr type.

Imo.

I made this point to you in the Doku thread, but you ignored it....
Haaland, will not, run to the near post ,with any confidence of recieving the ball, because he knows Jeremy is
not left footed.,..therefore,any cross from the left side will be weak.one top level player ,knows the game of his
Team mate..,.

Ran Ukraine ragged last night and got an assist. Very nearly got a couple more assists due to people making near post runs. Definitely need to see more people getting in there when he’s going on the outside for us.

to me it's been quite clear this season that he needs a near post runner - whether we should change our attackers to accommodate this or change him to cross more central, is another matter.

I would defend him and from the accusations of apparent lack of end-product though, as sometimes he's looking up at 7 defenders surrounding Haaland (not always though).

Seeing defenders head and shoulders above Doku in terms of height bounce off him and fall to the ground repeatedly will never get boring.

Disagree.

Doku and Savinho both are clearly talented - but are they top class - able to hold down a starting spot in a team challenging for first place in the P/L?

Clearly the answer is no! Doku and Savinho both, on current form, are worse than their counterparts in the same position among teams challenging us in the P/L/C/L.

It’s not clear. What’s clear is they’re 2 young players with immense potential playing with a lot of players past it or shockingly out of form. Judge them in another 12 months.

Doku has unbelievable natural ability, whether he puts it together enough to become the player he should be the dury is still out. I’m very confident Savinho will become a star over the next year or 2.

Could tell us about all these top wingers at other clubs ? Let’s exclude salah. And are they also 21/22? Most top teams don’t even have dominant wingers anymore. There is less quality on that position. Only PSG literally has 3 top class wingers other clubs maybe 1

He's rapidly gone from easily the shittest presser in our attack to comfortably the best, his work rate is now the shining example to the rest. Won the ball to set us up for the goal, sprinted back to win back possession more than once to stop potential counters, superb upturn in that side of his game.

I really Doku. Far better out of possession now in comparison to when he arrived. You see the goal today his press created for Grealish and then compare that to his first game vs West Ham where he’s at fault for their goal for losing track of Coufal - he’s came on significantly.

I also agree with overlapping full-backs and better underlaps he’ll improve further it’s always 1v2/3 for Doku and Savinho to some extent. I think that’s why he was popping into central areas tonight a bit more often.

He put in some nice crosses tonight though again but the conditions weren’t really the best for him and he was quite fluid in the way he was playing not always the outlet as he normally is.

I think both him and Savinho have a very high cieling and I’m very happy with both for the foreseeable. However I would like to see another winger come in and push them both obviously Bobb will come into the mix and it remains to see what happens with Grealish long term.

Thought he was poor last night.

He has definitely upped it in 2025 though I'll give him that.

Big season for him next year. Genuinely think it will be make or break because he will only have 2 years left on his deal at the end of it and City usually look to renew when it gets close to that amount.

A lot depends on whether he can step it up next year because in reality, whilst his drives and dribbles are fantastic, his end product is very poor.

I really Doku.
