"He's not clever enough to play in midfield", boy our midfield this season has been Einstein levels hey ? and even if he's not composed enough, why not play him as a midfield runner who can bring some pace and physicality ? he doesn't have to play deep where you need composure, you can play some of the other guys who apparently have so much composure deeper and play him in a more attacking role, something different you know, but ah well.

his normal position and has done more for the team this season than the 'clever' players

Not sure today’s the day for Guardiola to be saying that about him, given (a) that Nunes was one of the few players who actually looked vaguely interested today, and (b) how terrible our midfield was.

There’s probably a few other players who need calling out publicly before Nunes at the moment.

But I have a feeling when Nunes does eventually leave and is asked about what his time at City was like.. that's the day we'll know how much shit he actually dealt with.

1. KDB
2. Gundo
3. Bernardo
4. Kovacic
5. Stones/ Akanji in midfield

And you're prioritizing a RB?? LOL.

Even a totally crap rags team dominated our midfield with a slow Casemiro and he was faster than us.

Midfielders has to be our priority.. everything else is secondary.

Agree, shocking statement from Pep as it begs the question why did you spend £60m on a player whos not clever enough for the position you want him? And if that is the case, why would you say that out loud and put potential clubs off? At this rate if he wants him out we will have to loan him and pay his wages. Its one of the stupidest statements I think Pep has ever made. Nothing good can come from it regardless if this what he thinks or not.

Definitely some whopping errors. Whether they’re down to Pep or the recruitment team is another matter. I agree that Pep must have input and is therefore culpable to an extent.
Seems incredible that as bad as Nunes has been, he’s actually not even the worst. Definitely time for a refresh in the recruitment department…

I didn’t say I was prioritising that position.

I said it’s clear we need a new right back. Left back too for that matter.

We do need reinforcements in midfield.

Pace doesn’t seem to be an important asset for his central midfielders.

He’s done okay with Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta and Fernandinho, Silva and De Bruyne.

Yeah but all those guys had so much quality on the ball and intelligence it negated the lack of pace, the benefits outweighed the risks, but this is a different situation because there is zero creativity from the current midfielders, with the lack of pace and the fact they don't even keep possession well anymore it's all round shit so he might try someone with pace at least, but of course he won't.

Don't see the issue with what Pep has said. Given the comments about him on here by others over the season, I'd probably be considered one of Nunes' biggest fans but I said exactly the same thing about Nunes in midfield ages ago. Pep doesn't trust his mind and his first touch to play him in midfield.

I do think its something he could work on and improve drastically if given the opportunity though. if he concentrates for 90 minutes his problems wont be there. It's a mentality thing and I don't believe that's something a player cannot sort out. Doesn't seem like pep is going to give him the opportunity though.

Nunes can be a great fullback for us imo. he's got absolutely everything pep wants from a fullback he just needs the experience there and to stay switched on. If he's happy to play predominately in that position I don't see him going anywhere.

We've had delph, zinchenko, Rico Lewis, gvardiol, Ake and now O'Reilly as fullbacks for pep despite none of them being fullbacks and most of them have done well for us and we've been very successful with them. Nunes has got more ideal attributes than any of those players for fullback.

You’ve just written that the issue isn’t pace.

It is with this team mate, his favourites can no longer control games to negate the lack of pace, if you don't have that control you need to adapt and change the way you're playing but he hasn't, and the most infuriating thing is he buys another slow midfielder in January and benches him later anyway.
