Atmosphere 2024/25

For people talking about how it came across on the tele...

A few years ago (maybe 10 years now) the Premier League introduced a system where the microphones closest to the ball are played through the tele at a higher volume than those further away. Apparently it gives a better feel for the atmosphere in the stadium (something I strongly disagree with).

In the first half, City, with around 60%+ of possession, had the ball up near the Stretford End, so you can't hear the away fans because the microphones at that end are 'muted' to prioritise the ones closer to the ball. In the second half it flips so the atmosphere in the away end seems better.

This is really prevalent at our stadium because essentially all the noise comes from the South Stand, so when we're kicking towards the North Stand in the second half, it seems quieter on TV than it is at the game. That's probably part of the reason why people (who've never stepped foot in our ground) bang on about it being a shit atmosphere all the time.

Went yesterday with less than 2,000 City Clubcard points, via an OSC. Never missed a final, always there for the big games, even got a season ticket a few years ago when none are supposed to be available. Been home and away since 1995, many before the clubcard points system was introduced when we moved to the Etihad, many 'off the clock'. Manc exiled down south so home games are usually further away than aways. Part of the enjoyment is knowing it boils the piss of so many on here - if you're a grown adult solely reliant on your clubcard points to get you into games, what have you done with your life - no connections, sly tricks, black market hacks etc?
Very clever but I think you want the Tesco thread

Agree. There’s a lot of strange bumpkins and nostalgic plastics in their matchgoing fanbase.
It was going that way by the mid to late 1960s.

I remember being in a London-bound City coach somewhere in the Midlands in 1967 before the M6 linked up to the M1. We saw a coach bedecked in red, with a 'Manchester United London Supporters Club' banner, passing us with the obvious chorus of catcalls from both sides. A few seconds later a second, a third, and a fourth coach followed.

Hopefully, the atmosphere will be rocking tomorrow. The lads need our support. Come on City, let’s do this.

There’s a bit of disunity between the Stretford and Wythenshawe members of the 209 ultras. At a recebt game, I was shouting Wythenshawe, rag c*nt at Anthony Taylor and it’s been misunderstood lol!

Good atmosphere today, one of the best of the season. Just goes to show what a decent game can do to the atmosphere, Palace at 1230 you would think would be one of quieter games.
Was really good considering we nearly went 3 down and were struggling. Even at 2 down we were taking the piss out of ourselves. Very enjoyable.
